Morning all, back from Knockhill, fecking long drive.
I set myself 2 goals, break a minute, and come in the top ten.
Track day in the morning someone did some unoficial timing, i was geting 1.04, 1.03, then a few 1.01s
Time Attack started and I worked myself up and in practice was 10th with a 1.00.something. Then it rained, and i went for it still, doing a 1.03, then fell off at the hairpin (pics to follow), I also hit the tyres on the way through the chicane in 4th gear, dented wing
.
That 1.03 was 2nd quickest in the wet for club class, then it rained even more.
The shootout final was slightly different with 2 'hot laps' instead of just 1 as it was wet.
Came through 1st time with a 1.06, but can go a lot faster, started 2nd lap, all good until the hairpin (last corner), got on the power to early and came out sideways losing lots of time, got a 1.07.
The 1.06 was good enough for 7th overall, so pleased with that.
Off to RASP today for a good check over my car and repairs.
Cheers
Dill

didnt miss much really mark, it was big tonight but had a massive rip running to the right. Dt got out in it but only after ten mins of duck diving and paddling like a loony
but for me it was too strong to even try getting out there apart from the last ten mins when the rip seemed to die off a bit, but still had a good laugh at dt getting hammered a few times
Hi Dill,
We surf at Sandilands next to the golf course at the back end of Sutton on Sea.
There is a decent toilet block there and a free car park, beech is good as well.
Well done at Knockhill by the way.

Sorry to bore you all but thought I'd do a quick-ish write up
Grab a brew......then read on
After a 5 hour drive up the A1 and past Edinburgh I arrived at the hotel for the night, after refueling ready for the next day I saw a few of the lads from Scooby Clinic and went for something to eat, everywhere was closed, so it was a greasy McDonalds for tea then a few beers in the hotel bar.
Up early and down to the track as I was doing a track morning to familiarize myself with the track. The organizers weren’t there and so the pits started to get crazy with people parking in all sorts of places.
After a few laps of the track I was getting 1.01s, unofficially but I think I could push about 2-3 seconds on that. I made a few alterations to my suspension and it appears I was running too much pressure in the tires too. I’d been running on some brand new Kumho’s which hadn’t been heat cycled and were falling to bits, also with a flat spot from a lock-up, sideways into the hairpin. My aim for the day was to finish in the top 10 and break 1 minute.
Time Attack begins in earnest in the afternoon, and I start lapping with a warm up session then. . I had clipped the tyres on the chicane denting my wing but luckily didn’t hit the wheel.

1 of 2 qualifying sessions getting in the 1.00’s, which was 10th place in that session so just in. One of the 200SX hits the tyres on the chicane and opens up the plastic, they’re wobbling but I pass before anything happens, another competitor not far behind had the scary sight of 4 tyres coming towards him as he drove up to the chicane
2nd qualifying starts but its been raining, (pro session had been cut short for safety) and still is every now and then, I start out of the pits with a set of Toyo 888’s on, with a warm-up lap time of 1.07, everyone seems to be taking it easy so I step on it passing a few, then get quicker, 3rd lap I post a 1.03 (2nd fastest behind Mike Paynes Impreza for this session) but can go quicker, then I see Steve Darley in the Lateral Performance car and think I can over take him (which I could in 1 or 2 laps time), I closed quickly then locked up into the hairpin, sideways and off into the gravel.

Not happy, drove out and into pitlane to check damage. Stones embedded in tyre and wheel so I couldn’t continue. I drove back in and had both nearside wheels off to re-seat the tyres (cheers e-tyre)

For the shoot out final they had decided on 2 flying laps instead of 1 so everyone could get a feel in the wet. I went out and onto my first hot lap with much more water than before, nearly locking up on a couple of occasions, 1st lap over with a 1.06, but I know I can shave 2-3 seconds off that 2nd lap, all feels well, getting better until the final corner and I get on the power to early and come out of the hairpin sideways and lose valuable time posting a 1.07. I warm down and back to the pits really annoyed, but that’s what the competition is all about 1 shot, that’s it.
It turns out a 1.06 was good enough for 7th place (and would have placed me 8th in the pro class)
Over all I was happy enough to score some points. It was great to meet everyone again, and big doff of the hat to the crowd who stayed there throughout to watch.
