LOL. Like the style, actually cutting and pasting the text from the post too.
I think I probably heard that one from Steve G(SMG) originally, although it could have been from a few other sources too, however, just to be 100% clear here, none of these possible sources were Rob G's good self.

Moray, wasnt me mate the bucket shim has to turn to prevent wear cant imagine locktight holding for long but you never know. The shim is constantly being pushed by the rotation of the cam, bit of valve bounce and shes out!
The base circle of the cam should show NO contact or polishing if it does then the valve clearance is closing up due to heat expansion or your shim is trying to do the off. Bear in mind if using wild cams (duration) the valve is on the seat for less time and can not transfer the heat as well, if running lean A/R ratios which rases the presure peak in the cyl resulting in more power and heat then dumping some extra fuel in at some point can reduce valve temps. Out of interest my car with wild cams made about 330lbs at 4400 and with a small amount of nos 490lbs with tuning towards the nos which means it makes less power off the bottle. I have put wilder cams in since then to see what happens and will have results in a couple of weeks.

Steve,

I know what you mean about the follower's cam interface surface having to rotate over time, but I had assumed that the overbucket follower and shim rotate as one unit, thus working in a similar manner to the way an underbucket shimmed bucket, or a hydraulic bucket would rotate over time.

Paul, I don't know how you can say that Harvey's torque curves are poor when according to Well Lane he has around 240 lbft at 1500 RPM.
