Why not do the re-set under the steering wheel??

Isn't it easier than messing about with the battery?

Actually connected leads does what resetting your computer bios does on motherboard with jumper reset -> sets it back to defaults in embedded memory!

BLOODY HELL MAN, just disconnect the battery, take a telling for once. Your alarm won't blow up, neither will your engine, gearbox or diff, all it'll do'll is reset your ecu, and hence the maf.

WHY fart about like you do if there is a connector under the steering wheel that will do the same job in 30 seconds

Pete

You are in danger of inventing the **** Guide to Resets!!!

Because you clearly don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the connectors, and you're obviously not bright enough to understand simple instruction. If you'd disconnected the battery at the time it was suggested, you'd have done the reset by now....as it is you're still on here waffling about connectors.

unfortunately the connector reset is an '**** procedure' which ever way you look at it.(do a search)

IIRC,some have sugested that the battery disconnect will not reset the ecu.

I dont get why pslewis is asking how the under tray comes off if he is an enginear,or supposedly done the oil change before, the 'non ****'way.

The MAF sensor topic has been covered 1001 (as with the oil procedure)times, signs are;flat spot at 3-4 k revs (can also be lambda sensor related),more power after initial turbo lag (non linear power delivery),less fuel consumption(not sure if you can tell this tbh),takes longer to start when temp is hot, hunting on idle after giving it some stick.

If you dont have a KL or AFR then change the MAF to be on the safe side (or to be '****'),if you do then you will know when somethings wrong with the mixture, and the first thing to change will be the MAF.

All those are symtoms I experience regularly - sometimes the car just won't start!! leave it a few minutes and its fine.

Flat spot, nah, not got that.

And I asked about what holds the tray on as I haven't changed the Oil on a Scooby before and wanted to know what I had to make sure I had when I went to the 4-post lift .......

Pete

Oh, yes, its Engineer ............ not enginear

Yes, but Pete, like you, I'm loaded. I just don't inflict the fact on people as often as I possibly can, unlike yourself. So, as I keep reminding you, your concern is generous, but misguided.
Your spelling/grammar problems are something that you should perhaps address, must be embarrassing for a man of your senior years. Maybe a course in basic English at the school you have such an important role in may be of some use? Brave of you to come on here and display your deficencies in such a public arena.
You must have been an awfully poor engineer if you can't change your own discs/pads/oil or reset your ecu without having to have pages of instruction from such inferior types as us. Or perhaps you weren't an engineer at all?

David, he has been putting the wrong oil in the engine for 2 years!!

He took it to 140MPH within 3 miles of an Oil Change

Any possible engine damage is hardly due to NOT carrying out the **** Oil Change Procedure

Subaru Main Dealers do Oil Changes every single day on THOUSANDS of cars around the world ............... I think we would hear something if Engines were letting go left, right and centre!

Its an Engine, just like any other Engine ..... it does NOT need special treatment unless you want to give it that treatment OR if you can charge an extra 30 miniutes labour for disconnecting a sensor!

A re-built engine is different - but, an Oil change is just an Oil change ... it's simple unless it suits to dream up some complex procedure to enhance the legend of the Boxer Engine!

Oh excellent, PSL lecturing API David on the rights and wrongs of how to treat an Impreza engine....be told David, for PSL is an engineer of some renown.

Yeah, right.

I do not doubt Davids skill and experience on these engines, I would listen to him far closer than your idiotic ramblings Micared.

BUT, its an ENGINE, pure and simple - an Engine that is used throughout the world (and understood throughout the world!) ...... being able to talk with authority on these Engines is not unique!

Now, we could talk Nuclear Warhead Guidance Systems if you like?? Yeah thought so

If you'd listen to him " far closer " , to quote your impenetrable take on the English language, then why don't you? He's telling you what he knows because it's based on experience, not 'cos it makes him feel good!

Talking with authority on these engines.......is that what you're suggesting you do? If so, based on what experience?

If changing the subject to nuclear warhead guidance systems diverts attention from one form of your ignorance to another, and it makes you feel better about yourself, then I'll be generous and indulge it. However, if I were you, I'd make a bit more effort with the basics in life, such as simple grammar, before moving on to that.
