First stop for me was the short 2 minute drive to the M11 roundabout to meet up with scoobynut, and al3x. Followed by a couple of cheeky looking sti's.
Having cruised round the roundabout a couple times, we was then joined by the esc massive in full glory. Now at this stage i myself was ask to lead the convoy..
ive now been with the two clubs and a proud but skint scooby owner for a
year this month. And being asked to lead was a great honour. But then how fast do you need to go with 20plus modifed monsters on your tail. With the absense of spec'c and gangster. (the thought of the firery phenix from battle of planets comes to mind) cruising was made easier for me.
The route to the track was mainly motorway and this was pretty clear.
Id like to thank robroy for showing me how a sti goes with 3 up. I was'nt really pushing it anyway.
At the entrance to the track we was joined from the rear by scoobycitys convoy. And it was indeed a cool site seeing 40plus scoobs in a line.
They had given us a nice enclosure at the end of the pits to park up to which we fiited in nicely. even allowing a group of evo's and skylines to join in. surpose you could call them 'scoobie groupies'.
The burger vans were open and Tiny was straight there putting in his orders.
Ofcourse this was then the ideal place to put up the marque. next to the burger van and russells bend. Only to be told by the PC brigade to take it down.
Now looking at the paddocks i was suprised how empty it looked. I dont think this sport has taken off as yet over here. Not as much as japan.but then thats where it came from. unless you've owned a capri.
Pro and clubman were being held with names like Steve Evans in his starlet, Declan hicks in his mx5 and the option motorsport crew. Most of the cars were S13's and 15's
followed by the lovleeeey skylines. including a 4 door version belonging to julian smith.
This is the first time ive watched drifting in the flesh.apart from a few esc members at bedford. Now everyone can drive quick in a straight line. Even me. But to turn in at speed and control the back end at the point of spining round, and keeping it there is another matter.hats off to the boys in japan who do this 4 or 5 in a line on a street circuit. In the dark.!!
Nearly everyone span out at somepoint Even the pros. If i was in charge id have the twin drifting from the start. Because to watch this was spectacular.
the drivers seemed to perform even better with added pressure from a syline inches from there rear end.
The final proved to be a corker. so close they had to race twice. nearly hitting each other.
The show and shine competetion produced a 3rd place from one of the scoobycity boys. I heard he only parked his car with ours to keep them together....Git.
With the racing at an end it was time to hit the road again. so the last of the remaining two crews headed up and out. just as the heavens opened up.
Could of took a nice back route through haverhill. but given the weather and the over running of the racing the motorway was the way to go.
untill stansted that was. Ask robroy because Tiny, flat eric and myself took the A130. good move i think as the M11 was still blocked when i got back from chelmsford.
Cheers all for another top day...... you know who you are.
hope you get your car sorted baz!!
