Like it or not a lot of the blacks in the UK have a bloody big chip on their shoulder and think everyone owes them a favour.

blimy, this is a thread about "black" people so why should he make a comment regarding other race's? he might have stereotype'd "blacks" but he aint made a raceist comment...
Racism is treating someone differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different race or culture NOT by making a generalised comment on their race

maybe your definition is wrong? for a start he said blacks in the UK. not blacks in general... so the black in the UK is a VERY small minority of the race he is aiming his comment at... so its not a sweeping generalisation of a race....

Some of the lads who would be included in this scheme were saying yesterday that they were not impressed because being selected for it indicates that they are not intelligent.

Thing is, this is done anyhow in the majority of schools. When I went to school we had 10 sets of maths, set 1 to 5. All the brain boxes we're in set 1 and all the thickos or kids who messed about was put into set 5. Then everyone learned at their own capablilities... I see this as no different except they're picking on a particular race which makes it funny coming from a group who want racial equality

He said a lot of black people have chips on their shoulders. Whether the fact is right or wrong is moot, there's nothing inherently racist about saying it because he wasn't stating it at the exclusion of all other races. Simple. You've inferred that he was racist because it's what we've been brought up to believe. I.e. that one cannot say anything detrimental about somebody from a different ethnic group for fear of being deemed racist.

Dare I say, people trying too hard to be "PC" and holier than thou.
"Black" aint racist. This thread is about blacks. As in people (more than one) with black skin - hence the "s" after the word "black".
Davegtt/Jap2Scrap - we are sooo misunderstood!! I aint racist but I'm not going to tread on egg-shells everytime a "touchy" subject is bought up. People accusing me of racism can stick their opinions up their poo pipe.

And another thing, why whenever Stephen Lawrence, the poor lad murdered in a terrible racist attack is mentioned on the news,in papers etc is he referred to as the black teenager Stephen Lawrence. Why mention the black bit every time. After all the dont mention white when referring to people like PC Keith Blakelock do they.
