i don't think i did post negatively :confused;

any road is a dangerous place regardless of what the vehicles speed is that use it.

surely you would agree that it's common sense to keep a closer eye on your boy while he's playing near it.

you're not going to stop speeding traffic down your street so it makes sense to do everything you can to ensure the safety of your boy while he's outside, and not blame something you have no control over.
well said.

you are missing the point, a 30 limit is there to reduce the speed of traffic; most residential (except the 20mph zones), are 30 limits. This is to make it as safe as is reasonably possible in an area where there are more pedestrians.

Fair enough Dave, perhaps your first post wasn't negative in itself but it was supporting a reactionary post by someone who is known to you. My point was that CF must have a serious problem if he feels it necessary to focus on the parental responsibilty (even though I don't think Bubba actually said Frank plays out unsupervised as that is not the case) rather than the apparent illegal actions of someone.

Right , let me get this straight. Dave, Livewire and CF, are you saying it is not right to take issue with a driver who does more than twice the legal limit on a residential street with a school on it?

its for the '****' to think about what he or she is doing and take responsibility for thier own actions...I think that was the point behind the origional post.

you've missed the point Manda.

what i'm saying is you are not going to stop people speeding whether it's on a motorway or a residential area.

so it makes sense to do whatever you can to minimise it's effects if the worst should happen.

Mr and Mrs Po

what did you intend this post to do exactly.

did you think that the speeder was going to read this and slap himself on the wrist.

a more effective idea would have been to take his number and report him to the Police, surely.

You know full well that apart from shutting the street down with traffic barriers then you're not going to stop some idiot doing 70. But you keep intentionally missing the point and focussing on an area that is unreasonable.. and I for one am not going to restate it or attempt to explain such a simple concept again, as you are clearly intent on stirring things up and incapable of broadening your range to accept reasoned opinions as well as give well thought out and reasoned responses..

Nuff said.

I'm far from trying to stir things up. I live on a straight stretch of road in a 30mph zone yet ***** drive down it doing 60mph ect so I'm just saying you are never going to stop people doing it.

You can put as many signs up as you want !!!

Nuff said.

Come on people, lets face that speeding in built up areas can be lethal and it doesnt stop coz you come on SN and rant about it.All educated people know to supervise their kids and bad **** still happens because of some ignorant driver bombing down the street with 30mph speed limit.Due to the fear of kids being unpredictable, there is a speed limit for the mature and learned drivers.
We all have broken speed limits at some point and must be extra careful in built up areas.Thats all!
BTW,as i said before, calling anyone names etc on SN will not stop that driver or many like him.But law will!
Sometimes it seems like it some people like to be more than expressive here about their anger ( may be they think it makes them feel more prominent than others) but I think on this thread, complaint has been notified and notice by general SN attendees has been taken.Where that perticular driver is to take any notice,God knows!
So, chill everyone!
One lesson to parents to keep close eye on children playing near the street and another to the reckless driver.Who is more intelligent to learn and practice? You decide!

it was your decision to have your kids,so don't complain about having to supervise them

i know CF very well and i can assure you he doesn't want to hurt anyones kids, but your kids are your responsibility not anyone who might be driving by your houses.

i'm gonna have to disagree with you there dave.............kids should be able to play outside the house unsupervised if the are old enough, BUT how can a child cross a road that is a 30 limit and be able to judge a car coming or even see it coming at that speed!!!
........if my daughter was in the garden and heard a turbo dumping outside the house it would **** the life out of her

hi sara

you missed my point a little,it isn't about crossing the road.

in the original post it says his child plays near the road.

It doesn't matter if your child is playing near a road or in your garden if one of these ***** is speeding at 60-70mph down a normal 30 mph street and looses control of their car for some reason someone is gonna be killed or seriously injured.

I am someone who loves speed but theres a time and a place for everything and a built up area/Streets with schools and places children are likely to be playing are NOT that place.

These ***** who drive like cu nts around these area's seem to either have no sense or think they look big in front of these little kids

In reality the small kids probably think look at those Chav *****.

I belive we should all be allowed to drive fast and i would love to see a budget way that we can all enjoy our cars on tracks without stupidly high costs.

Just my point of view

Sara what sort of age limit are you pputting on unsupervised children playing outside?IMO children should be able to play outside and if its near a road then they should be supervised at all times! and children should definately not be crossing the road on their own!!!
I do have a child myself and he doesnt even play in the back garden on his own!
As for speeding ... they need shooting doing that sort of speed in the area! Tossers (and no im not saying i have never gone above the speed limit)

Get a cop car to cruise it at random times.

Set up a speed camera. (Actually a good use for one!)

Build speed bumps at regular intervals.

Probably wouldn't deter a nutter doing 70 but radar signs that display your speed are pretty effective at slowing down us regular Joes who might be doing +5 or +10. You start feeling pretty self-conscious when that fact is broadcast to the World.
