BT upgrades to 2Meg!
Pedro, you were correct. There is another post about BT having problems. That must be why I got kicked off, it was running really fast when I got back on, but then lost connection again and had problems trying to get back on. Just hope when I do get upgraded it runs as fast as it did on Saturday.

They drop the cap and give me a 2meg line
it doesn't make any sense. I'm changing because of all this cap BS . Broadband was meant to be an always on connection not what some of these isp's are trying to get us to use. Just another case of Rip off Britain.

As it happens, some of our ISDN lines at work are managed by C&W.
It just seems that you don't hear much from them anymore, though I'm sure they're just concentrating more on the business customers these days.

You are absolutely correct though, we dropped the home side of the business which NTL had from us, and now concentrate on businesses only. Its a pretty good network worldwide really, we also run a lot of phone services in the country and do alot of the Indian call centres etc (which I bleeding hate!). Apparantly our network delivers 1 in 7 of the worlds emails!!!

Oh and the monthly charge is being dropped for 3 months or someting like that, which doesn't really matter cos my employer pays for it

They've just announced all their packages will be available at up to 8Mb/s (depending on your line quality and exchange).
So you can get their 'lite' package, (limited to 1Gb/month), with an 8Mb/s download speed for £14.99/month.
Or their 'Premier' package (unlimited, but subject to 'fair usage'), with an 8Mb/s download speed for £21.99/month.
Changes being made in April, so not available yet, but their announcement suggests that once the upgarde becomes available, customers will be able to upgrade for free. People with broadband already can currently move to PlusNet for free, and if they don't like it, PlusNet will pay for them to move away.

Hi
I'm on BT Internet broadband, since they started the thing with the old btinternet.com e-mail addrs, they recently dropped the price from £29.99 to £27.99 but the connection is only 576k but has always been a good fast service with no download limits
After reading about 1meg and 2 meg on this thread I think I'm getting a crap deal, should I be on the phone to BT asking for an upgrade??
Cheers
Dave
