Nope.

Will have to change that though, with my newer Scoob taking shape in the "purpose" department.

Regards,
Shaun.

I've got a good friend that has a Scoob locked up in his garage that I thought he'd sold ages ago! He's quite keen to go to The Ring too.
When are you off this year?

Indeed.Next to the dual carriageway near Superchips in Buckingham. I haven't seen a pic of CK1 with it's standard wheels for yonks. I can only remember it with the anthracite EVO's.
The Ring trip seems on. Not sure about mid Sept, but the next one for sure. I think the first time we ever went was October 2000. Maybe October would be apt. Any old timers wanna go then?

It's worth mentioning that I actually only had two offs, and neither was at The Ring thankfully. The first at Donno was a case of having the door shut through Craner which was very scary
How's it going Stef?!!

I'm glad you thought it was scary too - still got the marks on my crash helmet!!

Jeez, you still here too?
I'm great thanks fella. Out of all the people I gave passenger laps to, only two of them got to experience 'The Dark Side'. Congratulations!
It was pretty hairy for sure. I was almost in tears going back to the pits. It was a case of 'do I go home and mope or do I tape her up and get back out there?'.
We all know what option I chose!!
I've got some pics somewhere of CK1 on track all battered and taped up. Does anyone else have any?

Would be quite good if you could post them pictures up Stef. I can clearly remember the hatchback you made of the saloon

With all the time you have spent on Scoobynet lately remembering the good old times, are you not tempted into another Scooby?

Green.
The 'hatchback' incident was much later than the original Dono one. I'm not sure you were there then. CK1 was badly battered but driving ok stil,l so I decided to tape up the smashed windows and continue driving. The funny thing was that the passenger door wouldn't open, yet people were still willing to clamber over the driver's seat to get passenger rides!!! Absolute nutters!!!!
I've got some pics but they're tiny thumbnails. Will see what I can do.
And whilst I loved my Scoob and had the best time in the community, I've already been there and done it. I loved having the UK car that was quicker than it should have been, and it would be hard to replicate that I think.
I'll stick to driving other peoples!!!!

Your right mate, I am not trying to say I was there when I was not Only heard about things through Scoobynet (you were one of the main guys to talk about the Impreza at the time when I joined for the second time) and I also seen things through photos that were posted on here! I only met you twice and you never had a crash when I was there but all photos of CK1 on the track in four door saloon and hatch back are most welcome to the old timers and its still good to have all the old Banter back between the good old timers.

I take it thats a real RS200 in the pics, I was just wondering how well it went, they've been my favourite car since Jim McRae took me round Knockhill in one when I was 11. That was 1987. I've only seen one once in recent years and that was on a rally in Somerset. Not competing, just a nice road going example.
Anyway, a good thread and nice to see a bit of banter on here.
Jamie,

Given that you're interested there's an RS200 in this garage

http://dws.keycast.com/keycastdws/de...d=762&langid=2

With 1500 miles on the clock - entirely mint and part of Peter Vosper's private collection. The garage is just off the A38; so if you ever come down these 'ere parts be sure to give them a buzz and Peter will be happy to take the covers off for you - he even let me sit in it bless 'im! (Incidently I'm 29 and the RS200 happens to be amongst my all-time favourite motors).

To the rest of the contributors to this thread - thanks. Easily the best thread I've read on SN since I've joined the boards .

I love the outbust of the passenger after the words "lift off" are mentioned.........

I'm guessing you didn't.

Great footage. Is that really a std UK Impreza? If so an 8:16 lap with 3 up just shows how capable these cars are in std form in sufficiently brave hands!

NS.

On the lap that I recorded an 8.16 I was alone in the car. I'll have to see how fast the three-up lap was from the video.
My car was almost standard at this time. Performance mods were limited to a straight-through Scorpion exhaust and a K&N Induction Kit, while handling benefited from Eibach Springs and AP Racing brakes. It was putting out around a genuine 235-240bhp, so was still well below STI's and the like.
I did eventually get a UNICHIP and a front-mounted intercooler fitted pushing power up to around 280 but I never got a chance to tackle The Ring with thtis setup.

JT.

Cheers!

You also had some uprated dampers on the car, think they were AVO?

Didnt you have the unichip quite early on Stef? I recall you running the car very lean at Snetterton, maybe that was when you had a superchip in there? it was definately played with anyway as i remember telling you to get the fuelling sorted before you melted it.

VXT? sounds like fun if it's anything close to my westie.

I will repeat it for the elderly and hearing impaired amongst you......
The UNICHIP was a late mod. I did fit a Superchip before Snetterton whilst the car was under warranty, which did melt my engine, and did get sorted under warranty.
I don't remember ever changing my dampers. But then it was a long time ago so maybe i did.
Either way the 8.16 lap really was achieved with 240bhp or so. I am returning to The Ring as it is clearly missing me as much as I am it. The vehicle I will be attacking it with however will remain a national secret, as I have never driven a 500bhp rear wheel drive car in anger on a track before, but I can't think of a better place to do it!!
It is worth noting however that I have owned it for the last two years so kind of know what it can do....ish.
The plot thickens, but i will be amazed if I beat CK1's best time as

A) I was a loon back then,

B) I didn't value my life, and

C) CK1 was 'expendable'

You have a very poor memory Stef, i thought it was me that was the old senile git round here.

You had changed your dampers, you were complaining about the clearance of the back tyres on your wheel arches because the new uprated dampers didnt have as much rear camber as you were used to running, you were doing this moaning in the main carpark to the right as you enter the circuit gates. At this time your car had the safety devices half cage installed that Mike Peck designed, so you obviously did value your life a little bit, or was that for pose value.

Ah, now I remember.
I have just asked Elvis, my mechanic at Tyres Northampton, who confirmed I did also have coilovers on. I was never that mechanically minded, coilovers, shocks, dampers, all the same to me.
I do remember moaning about them now John, and I actually don't remember paying for them Craig. I'll gladly get you that drink instead though.
I believe they were very good though, eventually.
It would seem that senility is getting the better of more than more just John!

So when did you get the FMIC? IIRC you didn't have that for the first 2 trips.
