V LTD sti type RA...you have obviously got no experience of bikes at all.
it would take a seriously powerfull car to keep with a std r1 imo.

having a modded uk turbo aprox 260bhp and a modded cbr600rr iv seen both sides. i only take my bike up to about 120mph for fear of death and feel not many cars would touch it to this speed. where as in the scoob im happy to nail it over 150mph, and quicker round the bends than the bike. someone like me on an R1 probably would be kept up with by a sorted scoob...

the race bits!!
my old astra2.0 16v sport embarested a mates renault 5 gt turbo even with mods

my scooby VS escort cosworth, i was behind but he could'nt shake me and he was smoking on the changes. was keeping up easly but he gave up and slowed down n flashed hazzards

mates gsxr1000 VS my cbr6rr no contest... and he was on the back wheel

my scooby VS standard MY00 was a bit quicker but not much in it.

my scooby VS mates 205 gti1.9 this was embarrising at low speeds round the twisties but open roads and out of the lag was no contest.

i do drive quick and have a laugh, but only when its safe to do so. with the speed limits the same for a battered old fiesta with no brakes or cornering ability as for other safer and quicker cars i feel i drive in an exceptable gray area.... mark

i have raced several bikes in an ABOVE standard scooby not just a de-catted RA..... yeah but your wording makes it sound like you pretty much kept with him..... i had a play with an R1 in the tuscan and was no contest so really dont think that the R1 you played with was trying that much or had an inexperienced rider on board IMHO.........

Not an ordinary Scooby? you said all its got is a de-cat and it kept up wit an R1?

I now question if it was an R1, and not just a mini moto painted as an R1.

Sorry mate but ill belive it when I see it.

A barley 13.5 second car keeping up with a 9.9 second bike! Ok!

Me and Wanted, with the red uk, running 330 bhp. were out one night.
I was on a ZX6R Ninja and he was in his car.

In a straight line 40 mph up to 130 mph he couldnt keep up.

A ZX6R couldnt come close to an R1, so please tell me how the hell you kept up with an R1!?

I hope I meet you one day and your as funny in real life as you are on here, cause if you are then you'll be a great guy to know.

I had a race with a modified milk float, he was trying too, had his foot flat the floor probably. I think he had nitrous on board but I can't be sure. (There were containers of liquid on the back clearly visable though, is nitrous white?) He started to pull away on the straight, but I lost him on the twisties.

I refer you to the fact that Tuscan57 is talking about a 390bhp car which weighs 1100kg and would murder your car in a straight line - and he claims he really struggled against an R1.
The R1, in no way shape or form was being used to it's potential.

Since I have already measured 392 WHP (since some like wheel figures and likes to over-represent AWD losses as previously discussed) in a classic Scooby, I don't think it is unreasonable to suggest that over 125 mph I might have a chance against an R1, and this does indeed seem to be the case. Drag strip times which only do the first 10-12 seconds of standing start acceleration are not so relevant to what happens when you keep the throttle open for rather longer than that. Additionally they are for expert riders in ideal conditions. On my first attempt with a 5 speed box and 50 WHP less I was doing 125 mph terminals in the wet. A well setup 300 something Scooby with good brakes and suspension in conditions that favour the car can get the better of an average rider on a litre bike. But often (in conditions that favour the bike - eg dry, straight, smooth, lower speeds, good rider) it would take an extremely modified Scooby to see which way the bike went. Horses for courses.

Back in around 1990, there was me on my raleigh ace 10 speed racer. my next door neighbor in her 1litre vauxhall nova. Raced from the BP garage between stamford and great casterton, to where we live, which was around 1/2 a mile. My initial acceleration was better , but she soon caught up. but the route was on my side. loads of turns, her nova couldn't beat the raleigh aces ability of doing 30mph round corners and my fearlessness. I won the race and got a little smile and thumbs up for my victory.

I was traveling to Bristol on Monday night cruising in the slow lane at 70 when a Porsche Carrera 4 went shooting past at 120+ i reckoned. Fancied a play so pulled out and slowly accelerated to catch up but by this time he was long gone.
About a mile down the road I could see him stuck behind a car in the fast lane so i put my foot down some more to get closer. I had my Bluetooth GPS unit enabled which sits on the dash and emmits a powerful blue flash. As i got closer to the Porsche I saw his brake lights come on and then pulled across into the slow lane(maybe he thought i was a cop??). I continued past past him and accelerated. At 110 I looked to my right and he came along side me and rocketed off in front of me ...wow!! So I continued to wedge my foot to the floor. At 142 and I was keeping a constant distance behind but I'd never be able to get close enough to pass. I decided to slow down after that because it was crazy speeds.

Maybe an Sti PPP would eat him though???

Don't get me wrong... I agree with the yawn factor of this thread but..... Why was he not trying.

The GT 2 is a true supercar and has far more power than any standard scooby out there... and yes it'll do 195mph but.... according to the performance specs it'll do 0-62 in 4.9 seconds........ JUST AS AN EXAMPLE.... the WR1 performance specs say 0-60 in 4.2... so 0-62 in what.... 4.3/4.4 and if memory serves most of the FQ derivatives of the Evo are in this sort of area.... Also I would suspect that an Evo or WR1 would be marginally better in the twisties than the GT 2 (Porsches lurve to wiggle thier butts!) so..... Why might the GT 2 driver not have been trying.... Unless we're talking very high speed scenarios (120 plus) then a scoob or Evo would for all intents and purposes pose quite a challenge to the Porsche!
