Tonbridge didn't seem that bad! A bit small, with not much there but clean and quiet.

T Wells has more there, granted. I parked up in T Wells to see 4 blokes fighting outside some pub. A lots of chavs walking about in T Wells too!

Prices aren't that far apart, comparing both places. The Mrs liked T Wells better (shops).
Hello

I'm glad you liked both places, Tunbridge Wells probably does have chavs but they are just visiting from Tonbridge to do shopping!

Steve.

They looked too poor to own cars

I'll have to go back again soon (weekend night) to get a further 'feel' of both places.

Other than the SOS night club Tonbridge has nothing really.

All the Chavs get on the train over to Tunbridge Wells for the night.

If you come down on a weekend let me know and I'll see if I am working.

Yes 3 that I can think of off the top of my head in town.

There is also the Bowlplex bowling centre at Knights Park, but I would NEVER go there after 9pm at the weekend. Unless I was looking for a fight. Lol.

Nothing wrong with Tonbridge.

Lived there for 30yrs !

Sold a bed semi detached house 7mins from the station for £280 last yr. It was the best property I could find withing walking distance to the station.
Tonbridge has a much better link to London with 40% more direct trains, although the rail pass is 2.5k and there is a waiting list for the station car park.

Twells does have more to do, lived there for 3yrs but got fed up with the rail link so moved back to Ton !!

As for chavs Twells has the most dont go housing estates, Showfields, Ramslye etc etc although they have got aot better the last 5 yrs.

You are right I don't!

I have a bog standard but filthy dirty silver one that hammers over to Crawley and back on most days.

Question

Crouch End?

Stephen King wrote an interesting story about Crouch End, with just a nod towards H.P. Lovecraft.

FP - Tonbridge is OK, and Tun Wells is ok. I lived a very happy 29 years in Tun Wells.

There are some very nice areas in both places and some bad areas in both too. Avoid Showfields and Ramslye in TW for example.

Part of the reason for many chavs in TW is that they come over from Tonbridge to shop at RVP as there isn't that much in Tonbridge.

As for the pub fight, sounds like The Litten Tree to me, pikey central that place.

I used to live around the High Brooms area (near the Vauxhall garage) and High Brooms station is on the Hastings/London mainline, plus the A21 is within 5 mins drive.

pmsl @ Sooz. Snobs in Tonbridge? Where? lol.

Nathan is bang on about the Knights Park place. Such a pity as it is rather nice, just all the chavs come out to play at night. Did nark me off when the built the place though, used to ride my motorbike over the fields it now encompasses.

Spot on!!!! It was The Litten Tree - how the hell did you guess that?

I'm still drawn towards Tonbridge due to the train link being better. I didn't realise there was a queue for Tonbridge station??????

Would this mean I can't use it? I'd be parking there before 5am for the 1st train to London.

Only a waiting list for season tickets for the parking although insiders tell me this can be as little as a few weeks, they advise 3 months ! You can still pay daily just more expensive.

Think you will find Tonbridge has the better schools although TWells has some good ones as well. Kent is still graded (11+ exam) which does draw people to Ton and Twells.

Ah, right. Cheers for the info. It's only £3.30 per day, and I'd only use the parking the odd day.

I thought Tonbridge looked quite nice. I'm used to London, so anywhere looks nice and clean!

What areas can you recommend?

Hello Chris

That's a shame! I have a Supra if you ever see one about in Crowborough, come and say "Hello".

Steve.

FP - As said, lived in TW for 29 years. The Litten Tree is well known to be the popular haunt for the less than desirable people in TW. I've never actally set foot in the place, nor do I ever really wish to.

I thought that part of the station is Pay and Display, though I could be wrong. Does really depend where you actually live in Tonbridge though. I used to walk from the station to West Kent College (about 15 mins) every day for 2 years, so it can't be too hard on the old legs lol.

Well, I will return again with my lady to see it in a weekend evening light.

After living in London for a few years neither place holds any fears, really. TW obviously has more, but is only a short drive from TB and is hardly a mecca for anything.

I think the right place will clinch it, over the actual town.

I get to go in to the Litter Tray every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

Had some good scraps in there though
