I went 140+ in mine today and the bloody noise still didn't go away, I had to slightly lower my window to drown out that horrible bottle top blowing noise.
There doesn't seem to be a solution to this problem apart from don't go over 100mph , if I wanted to limit myself to 100mph then I wouldn't of purchase a WRX but a Ford KA instead

I noticed the Windscreen Wipers sometimes don't reset to the exact home position after you use the washer. If I notice they haven't I make them wipe once and that solves the problem.
Can't say I've noticed any howling, but my private test track has only let me hit 110 so far.

Same problem here with a MY05 WRX but at speeds of only 60+ but it's wind dependent....just booked in for 1K service and mentioned it to the service manager.... He said that no one else had said anything but it used to be a very comon fault on Honda's.....the noise came from a void between windscreen and apature which needed to be hand filled.....service said they will speak to Subaru UK......let you know.....

These main dealers make me laugh when they say they have never heard of that before its total crap, mine told me he had never had any complaints about bangs rattles or knocks from the rear of new age cars, and also never had a complaint about the standard crap wiper blades.I have had 2 new age cars both with the same faults so i must be very unlucky with my 100% sucess rate with this.Thats my moan for the night over, any other simular stories JASON

Rattles from the rear? Sounds familiar to me too. My useless 1000 mile servicers barely did the oil change, so when it goes in very soon for a warranty repair on a loose bolt on the seat I'll get the rattle looked at too.
Mine only happens about once every second day as far as I can tell, and sounds a bit like a window/glass tapping on metal, and strangely seems more noisy at low speeds.
That sound familiar to anyone?
Glovebox rattles a touch too, but I think that's the contents.

Mine howls at highish speed in high winds, and I have a low speed rattle.
Took it to the dealers with the rattle at service, and got the mechanic in the back seat - no problem getting it to rattle, and he was poking around, pushing rear glass etc. End conclusion was that rattle is quite common on 03/04 WRX. It is not as I thought it might be, the drain pipe from the sunroof (SL), but is suspected to be the rear glass as some have been fixed by replacing the glass. Mine is apparently quite minor (you can't hear it over the PPP exhaust most of the time ) and it is not fixed.
Because of the speed involved I will try the window buttons next time it howls, but watching the bonnet and fiddling with the mirrors is probably out, as is asking the garage to "have a look"!

Quote : Has anyone tried the Subaru wind deflector strips? Do they work?
Can't see your point.
Fitted as standard to JDM STi and are hardly noticeable never mind caravaners material.
Made from a very good quality opaque/black high impact plastic.
Work fine too.
Take a look at mine

I used to have the very same proble with my MY02STi and got it cured The "noise always Sarted at about the same speed, like many other posts here.
Before you say to your Dealer T5NYW on Scoobynet said ".............." or no dealer will ever speak to me again
When you hear the noise at say 70pmh,
Stop the car, Fully open the door & window halfway. Now close the window fully and then shut door. Drive on up the road (don't touch window) and see if the noise returns (mostly does'nt or come at a different speed )
Slow right down and with the door shut, open the window halfway then close fully. Speed up and normally the noise returns at 70mph.
If your does something simular Ask your Dealer to adjust the window nicely I had a couple of window adjustments and a door seal replaced to get it right
My explanation is, rightly or wrongly When closing the window with the door open, the window opens to it's Max. height then window and door are shut on the seal the same way everytime. When the door is shut and the window is then closed, the drag on the rubber causes the window not to shut in the same place or is pushed away from correct posistion.
Hope this may help if it doesn't sorry.
IMHO IIRC

I have the same noise on my MY04 wagon from the passenger door. The dealer has changed the rubber seal but the noise is still present. The dealer was going to speak to Subaru and get back to me: I am still waiting. In fact I will give them a call now.
