My Mitsi is with Tescos for £ 890.00, Adrian Flux beat them by £ 20.00 but tbh for that amount i would not change it.

I rang around for quotes, got 11 in the end
NU most expensive at £ 1480(ish)
Adrian Flux £ 870.00 (Tesco 890.00)
Hell of a difference!!!

Just turned 26 with 4 years no claims and no points

Insuring a:

Toyota MR2 Turbo (import) on the main policy with protected NC for £534

Took out a second policy and got special introductory 4 years discount on a

MY93 WRX Import for £565

Was previously paying just over £800 for the impreza on its own.

you say Tesco is the best. Have you ever made a claim. You find out how good your insursance is when you make a claim.

Basic answer - there is NO BEST. Everyone is different - if we all had the same postcode, it might be easier, but as we don't, and premiums are calculated on a few key things (car, age of driver, previous accidents, and postcode), it means its a lottery. Most of us will say we live in a decent area - but you know that your mate down the road pays £200 less yet you cannot see why. It's confusing, but it does show you that yeveryone is different and you should shop around every year. I have never stayed with the same insurance company for more than 2 years in a row as I always shop around and you can usually find someone cheaper. This goes for house insuarnce as well by the way, but to a lesser extent as cars are more likely to crash than houses (not that I've ever seen a house re-ended by another!).

I claimed against Tescos twice (unfortunately)

Both time sorted quickly
First time keyy where kniucked when wew where burgled, the car was recoved from out property that morning and back with us 10 days later, the time taken was down to Honda getting the wrong key/imobiliser/fob combo!

Second time i had an accident.
Car written off, paid out within 14 days of the accident!

The same cannot be said for Admiral who messed us about no-end when Jenny was hit by a lorry took ages to reconcil and their aproved repairers did a terrible job, car had to go back 5 times before it was right. took 3 months to sort out.

i have just turned from a bmw m3 evo to a 97 wrx sti type r standard, has tracker but has not been activated.
Chap who sold me the car mentioned a company called A Plan 08450711234, also said that he had made a claim from this company with no problems at all
I is 34 with a sp30, father on the the insurance too, over 5 years no claims protected stay in aberdeen and i ended up with 875 pounds, thought this was quite good as last year i had to pay about the same for the bmw

Tesco has given me the most expensive quote so far for my insurance. I have never used them and looks like I still wont.

No, you wouldn't for the bother either - my son has just changed to Adrian Flux and you wouldn't believe the amount of forms and red tape - even had to send a photocopy of his driver's licence and complete a ten page form on exactly what mods fitted and the name of the qualified fitter, his inside leg measurement et al. Just about everything bar signing away his life in blood. Talk about covering their backs.

Renewal is due so decided to phone about.

My car is a 93 WRX Import.

Last year was with Admiral as i have no Tracker fitted and majority of the rest demanded it.Last year I was paying £770 fully comp early thirties i am by the way.

Admiral want £802 this year.

So i decided to see if Norwich Union could quote me happy.

Couldnt believe the quote I have had is for £435 fully comp so you can imagine i am more than happy thats with the wife as well !!!

I cannot get anyone near this quote so i'll be with these this year i think.

Could it be that insurance companies have like discount years or something, because i had a quote last year and it was astronomical.

Get the Quote online 20% Cheaper as well and you will have to pay online.

Give Norwich union a bash.

Hope this info is of some help to someone

Barmy?? I tried Norwich Union with a MY01 WRX and they came in at over a grand?? Some strange quotes knocking about. Am with Tesco's at the minute, and have been for a couple of years, but they have upped the excess and upped the price, very dissapointed with them, got my best quote from privilege. Called Tesco to see if they could match it and she told me to clear off basically, very poor customer services.

NO im not in agreement..... just called tesco's to swap insurance from the TVR over to the spec 'c' and they want £40 for the remainder of this month (runs out 15/3) then another £200 over the top of a 400bhp tvr ......

MY01 WRX not modded, SP30 2 years ago, no claims in 10 years until 2 last year (1st some **** drove into my car whilst I was watching TV and drove off, the other I locked at 30 in ****ty weather and went straight off).

With Norwich Union at the moment, £1500 with no tracker and the bar stewards have hiked my insurance by £500 per annum.

Surely I can do better than this?

might be of some help, so here's my penny worth

last year (first year with the scoob) i was with direct line, who gave me a better price than Tesco. Direct line are the underwritter for Tesco, so they both want a tracker.

This year i have switched to Privalege and made a considerable saving. funilly enough, the underwritter for Privalege is Direct Line. When i rang to cancel, the girl at direct line asked if it was cos i'm selling the car, and i told her that i had simply had a better quote. Her next question was 'Is it Privalege by any chance?'

The policy is identical to Tesco or Direct line, just worked out about £15 a month less!

I have a 93 WRX-RA with Mods (Body Kit, FMIC, Induction Kit, SS Exhaust, Blitz Dv etc) all declared. It has a Cat1 & Tracker (Also Cat 3 Disclock but no discount was allowed for this) I am 30 and my Wife is 27.Full Protected No Claims. I took a policy out with tesco's for £486 and had agreed to pay monthly. They made a mistake and took the Full premium, when i called them about it they admited the mistake and told me the Only way for them to sort this was for them to take another £81 Deposit from me and then they would put in a request for the initial money to be refunded but could take up to 28 days. I blew my top with them and hung up phoned my bank as they took more money than i authorised, but the banks say's that does not matter, i owe them the money their is nothing the bank can do. after a few calls between them Tesco were still adament i needed to pay the £81 to them, i told them to Cancell my policy their and then and i was going else where. it took 26 working days for the money to be refunded from Tesco's. I Will Never Use Them Again. I looked around some more but was not holding out much hope as Tesco was £200 cheaper than the next lowest Quote i had had. Then i Called Privilage and to my surprise they Quoted me £399 with a £250 excess. so i took this Policy out.

I am now going to look for another insurance company that will do an Agreed Value on the car. A friend was with Privilage and had a 93 WRX and he only got just over 2K as they told him thats what it would cost for him to get a WRX from Japan. so i would be P*ssed if anything was to happen and i only got that much.
