Default Help! - Check Engine Light

Driving into work this morning and the Check Engine started to flash on my MY98 Classic (Terzo).

As I have just arrived I cannot check the oil levels but it was on full last week when I dipped (before doing 700 mile trip down south). No smoke from exhaust
and the car drives okay (did not want to push hard just in case).

The idle is fine and if it were not for the light I would not suspect anything.

Should I take it somewhere to get it checked? Work in Newcastle (toon) so I could drop into Revolution. (I live closer to Alyn but he is on holiday).

Any ideas what I should be checking etc? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to miss NBO 3!!!!

HEEELLLPPP!!!!!

Just went out to car with the intention of going to Revolution and the Check Engine light has gone out.

Took it out for a spin and it is okay.

Should I be worried????

Scoobyjack,

I wouldn't be too worried if the CEL has gone out. It could have be any of hundreds of things that could have caused the CEL and unless it was recorded on the ECU, you would never find out.

engine compleatly siezed up today

drove to cramlington, put a deposit down on a car, told the bloke i would slowley drive back to sunny longbenton, and come back in a taxi for the car

i made it as far as the end of his street before it fell apart

it didnt drop any oil or anything, just stopped turning PMSL

sat for 2.5 hours waiting for the AA to recover me
i was so bored i was listening to every single ring tone on my fone for "kicks"

picked up this little beauty to tide me over

1.7td, its got 3 wheel trims and a TMIC
i was scared to take it over 60 on the dual carrigeway, i am sure a wheel is going to fall off

it makes sum strange noises
175 000 miles on the clocks as well

will have to get the handbrake working first tho
