Got a good wind going with the future Brother-in-law. Told him I'd had an email from Sony saying that because I registered and got my PS2 on launch day - then I'd been classed as a "Priority Customer" and have been given the option to get my PSP 6 weeks early, so I'll get mine when the gaming magazines do - all I had to do was pay a £10 deposit and say which branch of GAME I wanted it delivered to, and in return I'd write a few choice statements in Sony's favour and how great the machine is. I also get 50% off any game upon collection.
He turned green quicker than Bruce Banner - esp when I told him they'd be doing the same exercise with PlayStation3...
Apparently his mum told me he spent the rest of the night trawling the net trying to find out to register too...
ho ho ho!!

I can't see people bothering with using these as movie players tbh..... well, that certainly not what I want one for, so the multi region game thing is good enough for me.

just out of curiosity I had a peek on ebay, they are *cheaper*, and I appreciate that you are taking the usual chances in buying from there. For me they are not cheap enough to warrant the risk of being stiffed.
I wonder what will happen to ebay prices just after Xmas?

They might come down a bit, but as Wah has said I cannot see them dropping much this side of the launch...... importing video games is a dying resource, so when scenarios like this happen, they will milk the situation.
True... I did pay a helleva lot for it, but the way I look at it is the approx rrp over here will be £180-£200 and £40 a game, so in essence I have paid £200 over the odd's. Call me stupid (lol) but it sounds better when admitting you have paid *only* £200 extra, instead of saying you paid £460 for a hand held games machine.
Just to add further insult to injury...... it actually cost (on a yen to £ conversion) £90 , but don't forget these businesses selling these (importers) had to pay seriously over the odds for numbers of machines (as it was only one per customer), add on to that Import Duty, cost of shipping and also a profit for the importer and you can appreciate (although maybe not agree) the reason for the prices.
The so called "cheaper" ones off ebay are not that tbh..... consider the price they are *supposed* to be goin for, plus carriage and then the HIGH risk (as they would be insured items) of being stung for Duty..... as these *cheaper* ones are certainly shipping direct from Tokyo.

Your'e quite right, I guess it's the price you pay when you just have to have one. A year ago I might have been tempted in a splashing out on a folly, but I am currently having a retro moment with my dusty gamecube and splinter cell 1 & 2 ( at budget prices ) , so my affections are elsewhere ( wallet breathes a sigh of relief ).
Extremely clever & well designed piece of kit though, and I will most definateley be per-chasing one
How's the analouge for steering ?

The analogue thumb disc is fine tbh.... I tend to use that instead of the digital pad.
I am neither pro Sony or Nintendo (in fact I have been more anti Sony since the launch of the PS2 tbh), but I have to admit I think Nintendo are going to suffer big style over this. Everyone that I have shown it to have all commented on the fact that Nintendo are going to be knocked off their perch...... only time will tell I suspect.

Got mine on Friday with Ridge Racers. Totally exceeds the hype, it is just the coolest looking piece of equipment and the screen is amazing. Sound through headphones is equally good. Battery life doesn't seem to be a problem. 4 hours I've played it and it's still going, seriously unless you are going on intercontinental flights you aren't going to be worried about battery life and spare batteries are cheap enough.
I'm putting my Nintendo DS on ebay, it looks crap compared to the PSP.
