OK suicidal post. I thought the guy was a good Home Secretary. More right wing than Howard even. I couldn't care less about the visa rubbish but his big mistake and a huge error of judgment was slagging off his colleagues. I hope him and Rover will be back sometime. DL - former Tory voter, now given up

Pete,
You obviously enjoy the right to free speech, and use it freely here, the right to trial when imprisoned (should you be a naughty boy), and the right to have that trial in front of 12 peers. Well guess what, Labour is attacking all of those. Just be careful at the polling booth mate...

So ladies and gentlemen,
Apart from Trying to introduce ID cards and slagging his mates off.
What exactly has he done to deserve all the hatred coming from SN ??

While Blunkett going is unlikely to stop their plans coming to fruition during the Third Term one of the major wheels has come off New Labour's legislative wagon, and that can only be a good thing.

Im afraid I think this is a sad day. The man has ball's, more than any other in Westminster. He said what he thought, it was the other muppets around him that would back down. Left to him, he would of sorted out immigration. Now watch the floodgates open!! We will have some f-----g nancy take over now.
All mandelson wanted to do was get Gerry Adams over his leather desk. Portillo ran before more truth's came out. Believe me Howard and his shirt lifters, the ginger sweaty from somewhere in the middle, can crow but we have lost a man.
The most irritating thing is a f-----g immigrant, he helped joined the band wagon. Deport her and all the others that moan how hard it is over here.
This will probably be removed incase of any come back, but I can promise you there are things that not even the gutter press have let out. There are people, that could bring down any government. They just adhere to the official secrets act.
I completely agree with you here!
The only reason he is resigning is because WHIPS are getting the better of him which is ashame...and his backbench supporters not supporting him? this is cos of whips again...such a shame to see a good man go

Hmm. So him going has nothign to do with ******** a married woman for a couple of years and fathering her kids (alledgedly) and abusing his position to get a visa for his *mistresses* nanny? And this *abuse* betraying the trust of the electorate? Using the financial privaledges available to him to *make it easier* for his mistress to get about the country? And only paying back this cost (first class rail tickets) when he got found out?
If you're in a position of trust and power and you are an elected representative of the UK people then you should hold the highest standards. SN's can 'err' and make the odd mistake but if you're a minister of the state then don't do it .....

So who's his replacement then? I suppose whoever it is they will have to be a token minority in order to keep Tony's equal opportunities figures looking peachy!
Edit: ah I see its Charles Clarke.... so what's wrong with him then?

Let’s see, what exactly did Blunkett do that was so wrong?
He had an affair with a married woman? Given that someone was on SN the other week crowing about how she’d shagged a married 38 year old. The general consensus was “you lucky sod”; no moral indignation in that case, was there?
Given that the man’s more right wing than the Tories, I’d have thought he’d be prime material for the SN crowd, and after hearing the eulogy from The Mail’s editor last night about how great a Home Secretary he was, I’m surprised he’s attracting this level of disapprobation.
Did he help someone get a visa? Seems that he did, though possibly unwittingly, and he’s said that’s why he resigned. I don’t believe there are any other skeletons in his cupboard, and people have done far worse and not resigned.
Train tickets? Give me a break - would you really expect someone to resign over £100 of train tickets which in any case, he was almost entitled to (tickets are supposed to be for the spouse or partner of the MP ... you could make a case for this being a grey area).
The SN reaction seems to be based on the fact that he’s Labour, he’s blind, he’s got a beard. OK, attack him for the first, but to continually go on about his blindness is just childish.
My position is that he should have gone a long time ago, though as a result of his policies rather than because of any personal indiscretions. Way too right wing, too convinced of his own position, and arrogant to boot. Oh, and Daily Mail readers liked him, which is easily enough for me to take the opposing view.

Moose, he was a bloke in a top Ministerial position. Like it or not, he has to be seen to be whiter than white. Affairs, fast-tracking applications, love-childs and all the rest of it made his position untennable, end of. Plus he was crap at his job.
Makes my £50 even more secure.

It will be interesting to see what Tony does now the guy he was "supporting" has resigned anyway.... well "supported" Tony! Will he distance himself, try to brush the whole thing under the carpet, or continue to "support" I wonder?

Blair is saying that 'he leaves with his integridy intact'!!! Like **** he does. he was forced to quit for two reasons. 1. The Whitehall inquiry had him up to his neck in it, especially with the new evidence of emails. And more importantly 2. He was starting to believe his own propaganda to the extent that he was bad mouthing his own senior cabinet colleagues in public ffs. His biography being thrown about the commons by Hilary Armstrong and then Howard taunting Blair over its content, leaving it in the dispatch box as 'good holiday reading' didnt help his cause either. lol
The funniest thing for me was his complete refusal to accept that he had done anything wrong, and that if it hadnt been for his access battle over his kid he would never have been in this position. Wakey, wakey muppet. I read a quote somewhere that this approach reduced him to a parody of a Scooby Doo bad guy, saying 'I'd have gotten away with it if it wasnt for those meddling kids'. lol.
I dont think he'll be back anytime soon, Cabinet Ministers and backbenchers all wanted him out for his egotistical ranting, and when he needed their support all they could do to look at thier shoes.
Good riddance you puffed up tw@t.

We are being led by a bunch of dangerous cronies who's ambitions are to reduce our personal freedoms and our right to determine our own lives in the future as well as to ensure their own positions of power in the Eu federation.
This has now got one out of the way-for a while at least as we all know how these cronies tend to reappear at a later and convenient date.
Just hope there is a big change next year.

what p!sses me off about all this crap is that *apparently* labour were going to crack down on immigrants and asylum seekers etc, and then go and offer them free driving lessons, free denists, free this and that, and we, the population who were born and raised here are treated like ****
Anyone who thinks labour are the future of this Country must suffer from some kind of serious mental dillusions!!!!
From my interpritation of when they came in power they said they would not raise taxes, did they not my ****!!! Year after year, month after month of stealth taxes.
Gordon 't0sspot' brown can't even balance a book for christ sake!!! Oh it will cost x millions more than we can afford, ah we'll just raise taxes again!!! FFS if you don't have the money then don't f**kin spend the money you don't have, and don't waste the money you do have on crap like FREE FRIGGIN DRIVING LESSONS FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS!!!!!!!!!!
Labour said they would be tough on crime, B0LLOX!!!!! they just punish the hard working citizens of this country and let the scum do as they please. Labour wouldn't know how to tackle crime if a super sized book of 'Idiots guide to tackling crime' came out and bit them on the ****!!
Lying
Arrogant
Beaurocratic
Obnoxious
Useless
Rat faced **** monkeys!

i thought this government was all about "education, education, education"?
So why do they always knick the minister for "education" to fill the role of home secretary? shouldn't the top guy be in charge of "education" if they are being honest about that mantra.
