Not mapped this weekend as there will no doubt be some loose ends to tie up. Want everything spot on before Andy does his magic.
Mapping will be v soon though (if he can fit me in).

std 440s. Should be able to handle whatever the TD05 can throw at them. My understanding was that they were good for 350bhp.
What did bhp did your 440s max out at and with what turbo?

FE-TD05
Gruppe-s V2 Headers & uppipe
3" Straight through turbo-back exhaust
STi8 Intercooler + Scoop
Exedy Organic Clutch
ACT Prolight Flywheel (4.2kgs)
HKS SSQV
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
FSE Fuel Pressure Reg (might change to a SX if I can get one in time)
3-port solenoid
Tek3
+
APS CAK
Waterspray
Knocklink
Lambdalink
Blitz Boost Gauge
Am soooooo looking forward to having it all fitted....its been so long in planning.
Only have two reservations:
1. Am using a std inlet pipe
2. Am using a 3" closed neck downpipe
Might even come up and see you Andy (and for mapping
)up in sunny scotland if the car runs well enough.

Was thinking of leaving the CAK off until the mapping.
re: tek3/apexi. Am flexible and dont think I'll be changing specs so will stick with tek3 as per your advice if it gives you similar results.
Will let you know after the weekend re a suitable time to come up.
Plan is:
1. Have it all fitted this weekend (all except a bigger scoop/undertray & CAK).
2. Come up and see you to and have it mapped
3. Stop over in Scotland for a 1 or 2 nights and see the sights
4. On the way back to Midlands have the car RR'd
Sounds like a smooth plan...but cant help but think something will go wrong. Have tried to cover everything.
Fingers crossed.

I'd recommend spending a decent amount of time sorting out the induction and going for the Apexi gear (ECU + AVC-R). The difference between my AVC-R and 3-port for boost control is stark to say the least. As you're using the larger STi V8 TMIC and assuming you get a TD05 in better nick than mine you should be well over 300bhp imo.

I'm open to the option and will leave it to Andy ultimatel. I dont want any holes in the setup and being told afterwards maybe I should have tried this and this. Personally like the way dawes controls boost but we'll see what Andy says.

Me next.... Good luck Bob, will be interesting to see what you get. My guess is 305 - 315 with 'longevity' boost levels
CAK, not my cup of tea
Dawes, been there done that and a bit agricultural. My 2 port works really well ATM but have 3 port to try anyway. Not planning on using the AVCR stuff as TEK should do the business on MY99/00 cars but understand if peeps have earlier models.

Comes to think of it the Dawes is effective on the TD04 as it runs out off puff naturally. Not sure if this is the case with the TD05
Have a 3-port anyway which will probably be best for mine.

Not bought any reg but will try the std one first... I may have to buy one (SX) if I can't figure out a way to do parrallel mod with std reg.
For spec see Projects soon... Just getting all the pics sorted.
I'll be interested to see your price break down

As for price break down....methinks I'm going to break down looking at it!
starts with a 4

well done Bob.
personally, Im a big Apex'i fan. The avcr and the commander do an excellent job of stuffing you with information, just ask Carl, iirc, he was thinking of selling his.
Ive heard that Andy does a very good deal on commanders
I know I left very happy
will you be ready for scooby shoot out?
Floyd, looking forward to this one

and the bits arent even on yet. Will be over the moon to achieve figures close to yours.
I think I may have to draw the line for spending on this project now that I have a rough idea of what it has really cost. Its 4 figures and begins with a 4
There are a couple of things on there which wont contribute towards power (flywheel + ssqv) which were quite dear.If I find I need/want to play with ignition etc i will probably get a DeltaDash.
Should all be ready to run v soon.

I think you might have taken me response the wrong way. Was no neg intended

Would be interested to hear why it was overshooting boost on the 3-port though.
I do need to start ensuring that my spending is a little more controlled now that I've totted it all up.

What do you reckon then AndyF?
Also can you activate 'Ecuteks Live User Tuning'?

Not on your year of car Bob, you can get deltadash though and retard timing, not sure why you would want to though ? Handy for monitoring
Advantages of Apexi on 99/00
4 preset boost levels you can swap between
Live timing adjustment (add octane booster and timing for 1/4m or RR days
)
Adjustable rev limiter (set it to 3000 rpm when putting it in to the garage etc)
Knock warning via CEL on dash (be made aware you have bad fuel, not relying on ECU to catch it)
Resale value is almost as much as you pay new !!
On 01 onwards its a no brainer, I'd recommend EcuTeK, the later Subaru OE ECUs are far superior and Apexi only do a 'piggyback' for these cars anyway.
But don't let me sway you
Andy
ps, let me know if you get unsolicited mail offering you a "good deal", there's a few poachers around just now !

Shame about the live user feature...seems good.
On the issue of boost control...does the Tek/3-port control it well?
Would there be any performance gains in the Apexi gear?...Am inclined to stick with Tek3 if not.

Tek3 can control the 3 port ok but it can still be subject to seasonal differences.
With regard to power/torque potential then there is virtually no difference.
Andy

the major consideration for me was future mapping.
I figured that future mapping on the Apex'i is cheaper and that after a copule of map changes I would have saved a few quid.
Had I put my current/planned spec on straight away then I may have payed more mind to the TEK3 option.

Andy (Peanuts): thats why I was inclined to stick with the Tek3. Not planning on doing any further mods (famous last words
)
AndyF: Would the Tek3+AVC-R make a better package than the Tek3+ 3port?
Would it incur any additional mapping costs?

That's a good question Bob as I had always assumed that the AVC-R went only with the APEXI ECU etc.
I'll probably stick to the TEK3 and 3 port as I already have the license and my location is a bit too far from Andy anyway.

Apexi AVC-R can go with any ecu, it doesn't interface with the ecu at all (unlike Apexi PFC and Apexi boost control kit).
Personally i'd say the AVC-R will control boost as well as/better than the OEM ecu and 3 port and offers some nice features above that too.... oh and a nice shinny display

Must admit I am warming to the idea of variable boost settings.
Just wonder if it incurs further mapping costs.
All the bits getting fitted tommorrow.
