Who brings the prezzies, who eats the Mince Pies, who drinks the Brandy ?
I do wonder whether there actually have been people complaining, or whether this is just some do-gooder "protecting" people from something they didn't ask for protection from. There is an awful lot of emphasis these days on not offending other races/religions rather than whether a crime (legally or even morally) has been committed. To take an extreme example, is murder any more or less bad if it is "racially or religously motivated"?

Right then to those of you in the know, Im quite new to this present wrapping and Christmas tree malarky....usually its just me and her.
But now there seems to be alot of nieces and nephews at that age where the question is always, " Why "...
So.
If you put their presents under the tree, which I will be doing, and your niece or nephew asks how or why they are there before Christmas day, what do you say to answer their question ?
They still believe in Father Christmas, you see.
Thanks.

Yep sorry should have made that clear in my original post,it's not actually anyone complaining that it is offensive,it's silly local councillers and such like deciding we shouldn't have them in case someone of ethnic minority is offended,i don't think it's a complete ban just depends where you live,i was reading about it in the paper the other day, think it was in a big shopping centre in Birmingham, but apparantly a lot of other places have jumped on the bandwagon.

yoza's question
I found a useful answer to be that Santa was very busy visiting the homes where the kids lived. therefore you were helping out as he had delivered early to you as his all seeing all knowing person knew they were going to visit you. Keep the spirit and let them believe, mine are 8 and 11 and they are still unsure whether to belive or not, I think they think if they dont believe then they might just miss out!

She who must be obeyed, has suggested that we will tell them that, WE send the presents off to Santa, then on Christmas morning he brings them back.
Thats what she was told as a child.
Explains alot really, she is a bit dim.....
Ive been told that my tree/decorations are going up this weekend, for the childrens sake......cant wait.

Until any person comes up with concrete proof that Father christmas is not real, they can take a funny run..
I still believe in him, as do my kids!!!! ( well the youngest)
the people who reckon he,s not real, are the one,s who are frighted to admit it>>
(its ok there are true believers out there!!)

I was scarred for life by Xmas.
When I was about 5 saw all the pressies hidden under the bed and ran downstairs to tell my parents. While I was there my mother kept me talking while my old man shot upstairs & moved them. Then told me I must have been dreaming when we all went back upstairs for me to show them Santa had been etc
My old man said the look on my face when I saw them missing was priceless. Git.

Personally, I see it the same as the ****'s persecuting the Jews.
This is a tradition, an age old one. We're expected to "accept" other religions traditions and celebrations, that came to our contry and made it the "multi-cultural" society that it is often so called these day.
Yet they refuse to accept and ban the traditions that the idiginous cultures take part in.
Why do we let people get away with this?
It's a pity that all the comunity spirit and standing for principals and opinions is completely lost in this country. All we do is moan on a BBS, or over a pub table. It will just keep getting worse - this is a tip of an iceburg people, mark my words.
If this was any other country - we would have had demonstrations, strikes, even riots. But here we just moan and put up with it. It makes me sick to be Britsh.

Is there actually any evidence that 'Santa's Grotto' is being 'banned' or complained about by anyone? I certainly haven't seen, heard, or read anything substantive.
Sounds to me like another made up story designed to whip up racial and religious tensions ... seems to be working eh?

The whole point is, this is a Christian country and Christmas is a christian religious festival. It used to be a pagan holiday centuries ago but became Christian as this country was converted.
That is the reason why it is celebrated in this country and if other religions want to live here then they have to accept the majority religion's holiday with no reservations, just as we accept theirs of course.
I don't believe that any of the other religions are offended in any way or have requested that we do not celebrate our own religious festival in case we offend.
This is yet another piece of woolly headed gross stupidity from the afore mentioned Lefty Roman sandal wearing, spiteful, lentil eating prats, to give the modified title from my original, who spend their sad lives trying to think up yet more of the same.
Can't understand why anyone takes any notice of them anyway!

Personally, I don't give a f*ck one way or another. I wouldn't let my kid queue up for hours to sit on some peado's knee anyway. Could someone let me know when the "tradition" of paying to receive some bit of old tat from an out of work actor started? I thought christmas was about being with your family, but maybe I missed out on the "evolution" of this wonderful "tradition".

So where's the evidence that there won't be Santa's Grottos anywhere? Every shopping centre and town centre seems to have one, so perhaps it's the usual Daily Mail crap being spouted.
Mind you, they are rubbish!

Some of the posts on here......I can only assume that it's the result of the Daily Mail printing some sort of guide to using the internet. It's like a spiritual gathering of clueless clowns. I'm surprised some of you are on here at all and aren't out throwing custard pies at each other instead.
Honestly, if there's one way to sell newspapers in the Uk, then pandering to the insecurities of middle Britain is a sure-fire winner.

Offending the religions of those who don't celebrate xmas? Hmm, pushing it a bit far methinks.
I recall going to a school fete a few years back, one of the things on the agenda was "traditional dancing", Now, I was assuming the kids would be doing morris dancing, or something like that. Oh no, turns out it was some foreign dance. Let's say that I had a little word with the organisers about thier use of the word 'traditional'.
