sbrad you dont do things by half do you , fair play to you though. I agree with Hedgehogs views.
You might want to try to set this guy up. Get this guy to grass on someone whos quite high up, or a manager etc. You could casualy mention things to other people knowing full well he's listening and see if he takes the bait. I think he'll stab anyone in the back to go further, had this problem in the last place i worked. Thing is managment didnt like him either but were too soft and as such wouldn't sack him

It is against the law, to be denied the right to watch VCD's at work..

seriously why not just give him the cold shoulder and ignore the jerk! perhaps he will get the message..

I work with someone on the floor above, everyone hates her, I only have to deal with her for certain IT issues - shes in sales and looks after users, I look after the network - but occassionally when I do have to work with her like today infact, she rings me "to see how Im getting on" even when Ive only 2 hours ago said something wont be complete until tomorrow for example, or if I get a help desk call assigened to me shell ring up to see what Im doing about it, 30 mins after its been assigned to me - like she thinks shes gonna get to the top of the q or something - Id love to tell her to fck off, but Im not like that and shes the only one in the company I geniunely dislike a lot(as does everyone else) I have decided to be firm, polite, factual and give her no favours - I wont be rude or step over the line and she may begin to understand. Oh if you held a door open for her, shed walk through it with no thankyou............

My boss is ok as are most of the people I work with, one guy is ok to talk to but has a very unusual and unfortunate way of dealing with management, rather than doing as he is told to the best of his ability he trys to play them, wont work, he is quite a nice guy but needs to tow the line, feel sorry for him as I think he is going to end up coming off worse, I really wish he would do the right thing but I think it may be too late.

Liars are the worst to work with I find, but then liars in all walks of life are to be avoided I guess. Only time I have ever had a problem with people I work with was when we had a pathological liar in our department - made life very difficult for a lot of people.

tiggers.

No ,but I work with somebody that just about everybody does hate!
This guy we'll call Shriek , because he is visually like this character .
He is imposing.
Brutally blunt.
Character destroyer
Physically huge
Intellectually limited
Is never wrong
Eats like a pig
Farts when you are eating
Belches in your face
Will always disagree with any opinion.
But he is
Generous
Has a sense of humour
Will stick by you and look after you -especially at night
Is concerned about individuals well fare

Default Kharmic retribution

I currently work for a large IT outsourcing company but a few years ago I worked for one of the biggest ***** ever, as well as not being incompetent he is a congenital liar and has the worst luck as far as funerals, life threatening illness and general home trauma that prevents him from getting to work...he was also responsible for me missing out on a substantial pay increase and blamed me for his **** ups. 5 years later and this guy is now my client and I am now running his whole IT operation so he is completely at my mercy, he is now on borrowed time and my only regret is I won't be able to take the pi$$ out of him for longer!

Bide your time and you never know, what goes around comes around

Not if he gets another firm to do the IT support...your are both at each other's mercy. Time to grow up for a few folks on here. Its interesting how so many employees are fantasic and all the managers are *****....hardly likely either statistically or in real life.

camk, He is not at a level where he has the 'political' clout to be able to remove us and If maturity were an issue I wouldn't have applied for the post on this contract.

I don't think my line manager is a **** and I hope the guys that I manage don't think I’m a ****, its not about your hierarchical position its how you treat your colleges. The only way to get the best from anyone is treat them with respect and honesty whether you are the managed or the manager.

Surely statistics are real life, they are an actual measurement that is interpreted to mean anything you like...exactly like real life

FRENCH CONNECTION UK THAT!

If he slides around grassing everyone else up, I'd have no choice but to let him know how I feel. If everyone makes it obvious that he's hacking the whole team off and is regarded as a jobsworth, he'll probably get his act together.

A few people I work with rub me the wrong way, and me them I'm sure, it's no secret and I'll happily tell them why if they ask, try not to make it too playground but you don't have to take snide **** like that off somebody because they have no other interests in life and their job is their life.

Sad! Tell him to shut up or FRENCH CONNECTION UK off!

if my lads were sitting around doing **** all and there was no work going on, i would be getting rid of one of them and giving the rest more work to do.

now and again its fine, but if it was a regular thing, which it seams like it is/was in your case, then sumbody would be going BYE BYE!!

I do, he's my counterpart for another company. Odd that things seem to go wrong for him all the time.

That's life I guess. Plus if you give out bad karma I imagine it comes back to you in spades.

I go to work to work, not take the mick.I'm no jobsworth or grass but why should a company pay people to sit around watching VCD's(unless they are film critics)when they are supposed to be working?I wouldn't feel like I was earning my money in that situation.

I can just imagine how this thread would pan out if it was a garage charging you for labour they'd not done or the office cleaner sat on her *** when she's supposed to be hoovering round the desks.

Would love to see the amount of workers who say "I work with this geezer, he's OK but he seems to be paid to spend all his time on Scoobynet..."

Then you find things to do and make work, for the betterment of you and your organisation.

I doubt very much there is ever *no work to do* if you are completely honest with yourself.

What a lot of people are actually missing here is that a lot of the time companies arent actually paying you for your actual 'work' as such, they are, and they are fully aware of the fact, that in all probability they are paying you simply for your time. I used to work in a 24-call centre in my gap year and at night shifts we would often go 4-5 hours without so much a wrong number but you have to do something or you'll be asleep before you know it. Whether this involves a PS2, a curry or a card school it matters not because there was genuinely absolutely no conceivabe thing we could have done during this time.

As an employee at the bottom (at least in a large company), its not really your place to start demanding more/less work, more staff/less staff to cover it all because they pay managers more money than you for that very reason. Depending on how ambitious you are you should just keep your mouth shut and do the work you are asked to do to the best of your ability. When you have done that the manner in which you spend the rest of your time at work should be up to what you deem suitable. Although to be fair this can vary due to the nature of the job.

But that little cretin sounds like a right Frank Grimes. Just annoy him at every opportunity (but remember not to break any rules when hes around). He'll hate you for it but he'll hate you even more because he knows he cant do anything about it.

I think I use to work with him as well!!!

The guy I worked with was a ****. No matter what someone else had done, he had done it bigger and better. There was one month when he showed his payslip to some of the junior engineers and said "I pay more in tax than you earn"

We all got made redundant, and he promptly got a job with a large computer manufacturer. The funny thing was when he got suspended for sending **** around the corporate network, along with (IIRC) 200 of his colleagues!!!

You'll know if you've met JC, what a ****!!!
