One rule for one........................
"you and a few other like minded fools" from Markus above.
And Grant is quoting from one of Markus' OWN threads!!!!!!
"Bring out the gimp"
Another fine quote I like to use.
Anyway.
Meet at mine. Anytime. (I know 'all my members' do (wtf is that all about???))

To try and give an impartial bit of advice on other options, I know that the Yahoo Groups work particulalry well. For instance, the Scottish Elises group on Yahoo seems to satisfy the needs of the Scootish Elise community....you'll find Tut on there amongst others.
OK, not as web friendly as a BBS, but I'm sure it would provide the contact & community feel you're looking for in the short term. Oh, and no need for moderation really - especially if you keep it as a closed user group, with new members approved by the "owner(s)" (I prefer not to use the term Moderator given the stramash that word causes many of you right now!).

Here's the link to the Scottish Elise Group - obviously can't have much of a look around it if you're not a member, but gives a flavour (including the fish & chip runs!) :
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Scottish_Elises/
Lot of familiar Knockhill people on there given the past historical tie-up between Impreza & Elise owners at KH.

I used to enjoy this forum and I miss it. It is always dificult to recreate these kind of things but I will give it a go.
I have been particularly irked by the patronising and high-handed manner of this BBs management and the the fact that they never replied to my civil questions. I haven't enjoyed the exploits of some of the more "volatile" posters but I can understand their feelings. So I am of a mood to find somewhere else where I can feel that I am welcome.

TheSquirrel,
Some threads may of been moved because of the general misunderstanding on the lack of a clear and consise policy. That has now been actioned with the amendment to the policy.
SCOSaltire,
I did in fact reply to numpties post.
Reasoned discussion (in fact any discussion) with in the SN forums is fine, but as you may appreciate we are all very busy people. My replies are normally very short and to the point which highlight this.
To the masses,
This is not the moderators fault, so please stop blaming them. They are doing exactly what I am asking of them (most of the time ) If any of your comments should be directed at someone, then that person should be me. I ultimately take responsibility for the site and make the final decisions (as the buck stops with me). Of course due to other commitments in life I can not assure people that I will be able to respond as quickly as some may wish.... sorry.
If you feel that strongly that you wish to start-up a forum that is run the way you want it then of course I have no right to stop you. I really do wish it all works out if you intend in doing this, as none of the recent actions are a vendetta or personal.
Can others please stop enticing a flame war.
Regards,
Shaun.

So is someone going to copy and paste the "how many scottish members" thread into this so we can meet and discuss what happens from here ?

We could start a new list as above but why not just organise a meet fairly Central (Perth for instance) and see who would be willing to meet up and discuss where we go from here.

FAO webmaster, why is it that you are only bothered about moving post's in the scottish section, and not in any of your englandshire sections. I might be wrong but is this an anti-scottish thing, or in inferiority complex?????? the decision is yours!!!!!

West Lothian Scooby,
My point exactly is the fact that the guidelines are actually for all forums not just Scotland. If you see any posts that are missed by moderators that need moving please use the RTM feature.
If we segregate and allow for instance the Scortland forum to contain anything that is classed as local, whether that be sales, muppets, general chit chat and was it you items (for example), then we would need to get rid of the mentioned forums set out exactly for that as if we allow it for Scotland, what argument is there to not allow it for the other regional forums. If that happens then the whole BBS will be contained within respective regional forums. That is segregation and not what a single community is all about. This to me is common sense.
This is not a conspiracy and my bulldog spirit saying "ups yours you scottish person". if please think that of me, then you are really misguided.
Regards,
Shaun.

your welcome
But to be fair Shaun - nothing has or will change . . . . you just keep saying the same things over and over. I personally like S/Net but it has got a bit silly recently and when we try to explain why we would like to have certain changes you don't appear to listen by just keep repeating the same things. It is not right that we should demand our own way but I really don't see the problem of not moving threads from the Scotland forum. . . that is all we are asking

But if you re-read my previous post you will see it is not that easy as the implications are wider spread.
The easy option for me was to leave as was, but tbh the issue should not of got to the position it was at..... that ultimately was my fault. The events forum has always been for events only, the fact that posts/threads started to creep in concerning other alreday covered subject matters is a different story, and something that should of been nipped in the bud many moons ago.
Since the easy option is not the right option (for the reasons I have stated previous), I chose to make the ultimate decision after much thought (most people would of took the easy option) as I absolutely believe without doubt that for now it is the only way. Perhaps new forums need to be made, but for consistency and ease of understanding across the board right now, it was the only way forward.
I am not saying things will not need to change (as regards to present guidelines), but just not right now.

Shaun.

Hi Colin
This may sound really obvious, but what stopped you from putting in the title of the thread "WANTED - CAR X IN SCOTLAND AREA". Admittedly you would of had to request for the original thread to be deleted, but you would of achieved the same goal.
If that was left in the SCOTLAND forum, you be expecting people to look at WANTED forum as well as the SCOTLAND forum to find out about WANTED items. If you compound that by saying that all the other regional event community would follow suite you end up with a bit of a mess.
Regards,
Shaun.

But then I could argue that as this is the Scotland community, this is where people go to see whats happening in my area, now I had asked for any cars for sale or people thinking about selling in near future - seen for sale etc......not everyone looks in the wanted section anyway.
I have experienced similar in other forums and they just let it go, this is a good site, no ********* coming on spamming ****e like you get on some others I go on, the above mentioned is the only bad thing I have seen, please dont waste it, it really is not alot to ask!

I fail to understand why events can't mean community posts, and it's not giving the users what they want.
However it's Shaun's forum so it's his ball at the end of the day, and his right to do what he wants and takes decisions as he alone see fit- as is plainly obvious which is what he's doing regardless, end of story.
There's no point moaning at him however, he's the guy who has stuck his neck out and has done more of the work than anyone else in the first place to get Scoobynet to this point.
If someone wants to start up an alternative Scottish based forum, instead of continually moaning here (it's not hard to do- I've run bbs for years for non car related setups- too busy to take it on myself just now however) I'll happily post there and still post here just outside of the Scottish forum.
That way seemingly everyone will be happy- Scottish users with somewhere to post, and Shaun with a deserted Scottish forum other than for occasional meetup posts.
I do expect to see the other regional forums treated just as severely however.

Hi All,
I know I'm just a newbie, but I've been lurking around SN for a few months now, if that happens to count for anything.
Rather than me trying to persuade the powers that be to make changes, I've taken the approach of creating a Yahoo Group. It's called Subaru Scotland. Feel free to sign up for it and use it as this forum should be used

Place turned into a joke recently. What is the problem with the Scottish section being run as it previously was? Car for sale in Aberdeen........ is someone going to travel from London for it? Not from my experience - it was always posts/e-mails asking where the car was then when I replied the response was "sorry too far to travel".......... Why not leave these in the Scottish section. How many of the English pay attention to the Scottish section???? At a guess, very few if any - so why not let the Scottish section carry on as it was?!?!?! It was a great community, that is now filled with "moved thread" etc, which, as someone already pointed out, leaves the threads in the Scottish section where they were before!!!
Onwards & upwards though.....................

I did see that no good troll sign up, thought I might give him the benefit of the doubt, seems I was wrong to do this, as he posted the message you quoted. Not to worry though, banned the annoying git so he can't post.

Well done for setting up the Yahoo group - maybe it helped us along a bit but SIDC is there ready to be used so may as well use it and get my £20's worth FULLY.
