NEW WORLD ORDER (meet)

The guidlines have been updated and it was excellent of the webmaster to point to the USERS the subtle changes.

The 'EVENTS' sections are to become for the sole purpose of 'EVENTS' only.

Anything deemed outwith this category will be moved to the relevant section with this being the case today with at one point 50% of the threads on the main Scottish page being moved.

After months of discussion and talk of 'giving the members what they want' this is the result.

Were YOU the members ever asked what YOU wanted?

Now is your chance.

Can we arrange a MEET to discuss this?

Please post a venue and date of your preference.

cheers robin (in SCOTLAND) H20MRV :)

Dougster 25 August 2004 07:56 PM

Be sensible now Robin. (and everyone else for that matter)

We don't want any MUPPET threads spoiling our meet. ;)

Cheers for the phonecall and your house sounds IDEAL!!!

Markus 25 August 2004 08:03 PM

Maybe you should just accept the changes that have been made and stick to the rules or just sod off and start your own little local forum. It is totally pathetic that you are getting so bent out of shape over this. I simply post what I do as I know it's going to wind you up, talk about easy targets :D

Dougster,

Oh dear........

The forum guidelines have been agreed upon because of the urgency to define a straight forward and consistent approach. Sadly not all people will be happy, but I am afraid we cannot please everyone all the time.

The policy will be constantly under review and as time prevails we will revisit and refine. I will of course keep you and everyone else updated on this.

But......

Let me make one thing quite clear, I will not be forced in to making any rash decision because it suits you and others and is detrimental to the rest of SN and the community. You may think these tactics will make me change policy to suit your agenda, but it will simply have the opposite affect.

I thank all the people (even from the Scotland contingent) on the reasoned emails discussion on this subject.

To cap it all Dougster if you want what you want, then I suggest that you go else where to get it as that ultimately will be the only path you leave open for yourself.

Regards,
Shaun.

Dougster 25 August 2004 09:15 PM

It wasn't what 'I' wanted and don't try pining it on me.

I tried and tried to get what the 'Scottish Users' wanted.

They know that, I know that. Pity you couldn't see it.

I do go elsewhere.

Like OUTSIDE!!!!!!

TheSquirrel 25 August 2004 09:27 PM

Webby

You and your team of Mods have acted in a downright underhand manner,frankly your actions makes us all north of the border feel like mushrooms{kept in the dark and fed on sh*t}
You have humoured us in a very nanny like way with comments like we will involving the users in the decisions in the running and saying no more posts will be moved until further notice BLOODY LIARS

After the run on Sunday I WONT BE BACK and i wont be suggesting Scoobynet to any new owners i meet who have not heard of your website

It is yours to run as you so see fit but if this is the decision you have taken ,you can shove it right up your ..............

Yours Disgruntingly

Grant

robinH20MRV 25 August 2004 09:47 PM

i dont want to leave scoobynet, but.....

i just want it the way it was not long ago, we are not as big a group as "englandshire" we mostly know who we all are, we have one race track, we all meet up, we have fun!!

PLEASE MODS, IT WAS WELL COOL THE WAY IT WAS :( :(

ps, dougster who i have raced with (oops i mean gone for a wee run with) on twisty roads talks for most scots, beleve me!!

why change what is good? do you want to loose scots members?

robin h20mrv on my third scooby.

Jer 25 August 2004 09:54 PM

This is a bit of a joke. I put a post up looking for an old banger as my Scooby's big end has gone and it gets moved to wanted. Why would I want to travel more then 100+ miles to buy a car for a few hundred quid. It's not as though the Scotland forum is that busy and moving 50% of the posts is not going to improve this.

TheSquirrel 25 August 2004 10:07 PM

Its now FUBAR

Dont think it will ever be the same

The Mods think Dougster has a hidden agenda or something along those lines but i agree with Bobin,Dougster speaks for all of us

Grant

Markus 25 August 2004 10:09 PM

HEAR, HEAR SHAUN! (and I know I'm being a right pillock with my posts :D)

Doug - awwwwwww, I'm so honoured that you and a few other like minded fools wish to meet me and 'discuss' things. how adult and grown up of you. Should I take this threat seriously and report it to the moderators? :p

Grant - Oh well, I'm sure and other like minded souls like yourself will be deeply missed by the Scoobynet community, and yes, I'm being very sarcastic

Civic Type R 25 August 2004 10:23 PM

Guys,

To resolve this is easy IMHO..............so take it easy on my honda a$$

Until the ****storm dies down you ought to form a Yahoo group with all those who wish to keep the Scottish section as it has been up until now. That way you can initially communicate with Saddam free ease until you think of a more long term approach.

IMHO The Scottish section of the SIDC forum will suffer a similar fate ( as again it has just a Scottish events section) so what you need is a dedicated Scottish Scoobs Forum using phpBB boards. That way you can post interesting technical links etc back to SN but " keep for sale " " was it you" local type things within headings specific to Scotland.

All it would need is a fiver from a few folk to kick start a new url, hosting & phpBB forum - sounds like a pure baw ache but it ain't too hard and there must be a few web monkeys amongst out Ecosse midst to assit with site commisioning !

Here's an idea of the forum format that i suggest. We kicked this off a while back starting with a Yahoo group that gradually evolved............

http://type-r-scotland.com/phpBB2

We now have 240 members and a chilled environment with zero moderator grief.

So am i taking ****e or is this a feasible alternative to e-warfare ? maybe it's been talked about already

Cheers

Cal

( who surfs in here for a love of KH bashing ( and receiving Mpegs and pics that others post from Hot Marques etc), Scoobs, was it you's, hamiltan abuse ;), house price info, offshore jobs, "whit tartan" poll's , stag-doo recommendations, anyone got spare spoiler......yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada // oh the banter !

Guarantee this would create harmony in the Scooby doo community again and increase yer chances of divorce with the missus due to excessive expenditure & dubya dubya............

If anyone thinks this is a good idea then slap yer name below

what has happened that has suited us? please enlighten me?
DO you think that the meet to discuss OUR long liked and trusted method of communication will definately mean some ultimatum?
I refer the gentleman to the post made in Policy (correct forum) by Numptie.
A perfect post. No response to it as to the result of his comments.
IMHO, this is pretty shabby.

that you will do something just because something was done by someone else that u took the wrong way?

but no reasoned discussion in the SN forums...?
no comeback on answers in the Policy forum?

I am not sure i want some of what dougster wants ;)
not into that :p

however, I would like the nice friendly SN back again.

I think all the mods should go on holiday and chill out.
There was nothing wrong with my post about the loud impreza in my town.
ok, so may it should have been in WIY, but not the muppets.

lets face it, Scottish forum was a great place to be.
It had fun, character, a sense of 'home' for scottish members
Yes, it was different to other forums, but was that really a bad thing?
Is the quest for a change to it really for the good of the forum or SN?
IMHO, SN were lucky to have such a lively and entertaining forum.
They could have seized that and opened up a new revenue route by allowing spaces for 'local' advertisers.

*shruggs*

Some sense spoken by a bloody Honda driver

All we want is the "chilled out manner" that attracted us in the first bloody place

Markus before i go I,person to person, would love to discuss things in an adult and mature manner and yes i am being sarcastic

Markus 25 August 2004 10:34 PM

Grant - perchance are you, along with Doug and his "other members" threatening me? Should I be quaking in my boots? Should I be reported a potential threat to the police?

Marcus, all you want to do is stir up trouble?
Why don't you just piss off back to the muppet forum where you belong.

Anyway, I would fully support Dougster, he most definitely supports the wishes and needs of the majority of the Scottish contingent.
As I see it though, when a post gets moved from the "Scottish events" section, you can still see it there as a "moved" post. So effectively, IT'S STILL THERE for all to see. So is it realy such a big deal? (of course it is)

TheSquirrel 25 August 2004 11:06 PM

Mods why did you delete my non threatenining reply to Markus

Grant

Dougster 25 August 2004 11:10 PM

Markus, if you're looking to start a flame war don't bother as you as a 'wannabe' should know the rules.

You have been guilty in the past of starting them yourself, but the hearty Scottish welcome still stands any time you feel like a good stuffing.
