TBH - I don't think there's a obvious choice, not keen on Clive Owen.

I was thinking Christian Bale myself actually. Clive Owen would be a good choice too.
Senior_AP - what was the deal with Dalton then? I thought he was a good bond, but then I thought the other "substitute Bond" was good too - George Lazenby (sp?)
/edit re: the Bourne Indentity, is it me or does Mat Damon look a bit young to be a top no-nonsense spy?

Clive Owen gets my vote too. I have a DVD of those BMW Films and he seems to be basically auditioning for the part in those.. I read in the Telegraph at the weekend that Tarantino wants to remake Casino Royale (the 1st Bond book, only filmed until now as a spoof with David Niven, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen et al in the 60's), with Brosnan playing Bond. He's also said he wants to set it in the 60's too, which IMO would be cool. Still think Owen would be better than Brosnan though.. Owen would play it darker I think, much closer to Fleming's books (you should read them all BTW, they're the nuts!)

What about Robbie williams, looks the part can imagine it now at the film premiere, easy to park as all his fans would be under 17 years old

I can see the Bond series turning into total crap pretty soon - political correctness will be forced upon it, so we'll end up with an ethnic bond and some disabled bond girls..
I read somewhere about them on about going back to having set in the 50's or something - that could be pretty quality IMO - however with the amount of money they make from product placement in them now I dont see that ever happening.

There is a girl here at work who's brother - James Purefoy - got down to the last few to play Bond before Brosnan got the job .....put James Purefoy Bond into google & click on the first result.
He was in A Knights Tale & Resident Evil recently & a few other things.
He is apparantly in the running to play bond when Brosnan quits & will not reveal who the others in the running are, though one of them is deffo Clive Owen.

You're itching for me to say what we both know I will say. You're fishing for an argument that is guaranteed to end up getting silly.
You know what I think on this and vice versa. I respect your opinion.

Fair enough...
No point debating though is there?? We won't agree, so its just prompting unnecessary attitude - more than likely from a whole host of people, so they all get annoyed to. I'm not going to set out to provoke an argument about such silly topics.
