BUT!!! *Anyone* can land a dart in a dartboard (except some wimmin ), but not everybody can throw a javelin 80+ metres!! Now if they had Distance Darts - that would be a sport!!

No, exactly. That's the difference between a *game* requiring skill and a *sport* requiring exceptional athletic ability (as well as skill, obviously).

Physical exertion - wouldn't know the meaning of it. Unless drinking is included.
Mental exertion - yes
Is it on a sports channel - yes, but then so is fookin SNOOKER!!
Can you buy darts in a sports shop - yes, but they're pointy and dangerous, ie not toys.
Darts is a game if ever i've seen one.

You should have watched the worlds. They were physically more exherted than alot of other so called sports!!! I would have really struggled playing for 6 hours under those conditions.
I didn't think it was a sport....then I watched it a few times.

Wasn't by readers of "Darts Magazine" was it perhaps?
I think most people would be physically exhausted standing still in a sweaty pub for 6 hours, under big spotlamps with a camera aimed at you, with or without throwing darts. Though I hardly consider standing in a pub to be a sport.

So, we agree that aspect of it is tiring. Along with competition, skill involved and a prize to win I believe we have the formula for sport.
It was a non darts affiliated group. General sport. They recognised the achievevment of one man winning 11 out of 13 world titles. The man 11 times out of 13 baring in mind he is just a pub fatty....he's made big money and alot of fame by being the absolute BEST out of xx billion people that are on this planet consistently for 13 years.
I'll pay him, and the sport the respect it "now" deserves.

So to sum up, you know nothing about darts at all.
Fair enough.

so...just to check:
darts players love it as a sport and get paid
darts fans love it as a sport and enjoy watching
most other people dont care
and some bloke on a web site changes his name to suggest its not a sport at all.
