What's up with my Goldfish?

Sorry about the money
But as Andrew said, you show that you do give a damn so good on you !
When you ever get the time, do read up on this stuff, it's fascinating and mindblowing really.
It's a bit like:
Q: my car just ended in a ditch, any advice ? Am I not a racing god ?
A: yeah, keep the sticky bits on the black stuff
It gets more complicated from there.
I seem to remember from a previous incarnation that you know how to work on a car, is that correct ?
You don't have to know all the things you know when you just drive a car, but you *do* have to know a bit when things went wrong and a fault developped, and you need to cure it.
It's exactly the same with fish. As long as it all goes according to plan, it's easy, presto. When things seem to go **** up, it's "HELP"
You then get people like me throwing all kinds of difficult stuff at you, you start to feel guilty and inadequate Just like I felt a few years ago when a mechanic dude told me "that's ya MAF fooked laddy"
I hope you see the similarity.
Good luck with the fish. And do read up on it, it's really a fascinating world.

In memory of Fish, a little joke:
Dead Goldfish
Little Tim was in the garden filling in a hole when his neighbor peered over the fence. Interested in what the cheeky-faced youngster was up to, he politely asked, "What are you up to there, Tim?"
"My goldfish died," replied Tim tearfully, without looking up, "and I've just buried him."
The neighbor was concerned, "That's an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn't it?"
Tim patted down the last heap of earth then replied, "That's because he's inside your stupid cat."

I've just re-read all the posts now that I have some more time, ie not trying to save Fish, buy stuff, eat my dinner and try to make it look like I've done some work today! I really apreciate all your thoughts, thanks!
Somedude, you summed it up really, you can't know everything about a subject in an instant, you have to learn. And yes, I spent 9 years spannering cars and the last two writing about spannering cars! I can apreciate what you mean about how fascinating it can be, I remember learning about how to analyse exhaust gas readings and how they effect the engines performance, I guess the fish tank cycle thing is similar....that said I remember nothing about exhaust gas!
I'm gonna get me another fish on Monday, the new shop we found has loads, they all look really good and also look like they are well looked after, the chap was really helpfull too
Thanks again

That's the spirit.
Sorry about the fish, but you'll do just fine with the next one. And it's not even like it *has* to be your fault, sometimes the stupid buggers just die on you, no real reason.
And yeah, analyzing EGT's etc is certainly as daft as knowing what KH your water should have
But the learning curve makes it all worth while

Here's my new fish, this one's called 3 but you have to say it in a Chelle from Downcount style, Thhreee! (it's another Mark and Lard thing...and my third fish!)
The water isn't actually as cloudy as it looks though it has gone a bit cloudy over the weekend.
Cheers
