Tiggers,

Wonder why you accuse me of being "on a high horse". If that is so then everyone who expresses an opinion on SN is equally placed, including you!

My point was that 7 years in power and having achieved nothing to reduce the crime wave or protect the innocent is inexcusable given the claims that were made during his original election. You appeared to be attempting to shift that portion of blame from this government. And I was not excusing previous goverments. Maybe we can agree on that stance.

Leslie,

Fair enough mate, it just seemed to me that you were implying I was saying all was rosy regarding crime under this government which it definitely isn't. My point really is that the UK has a massive problem with crime that has been building for years and years - we need to sort it and kicking it around as a political football is deifnitely not the way to do that. Commnon ground I think.

Apologies for the high horse comment - it wasn't meant to offend.

tiggers.

What gets me really angry is the lies that we are being told - how things are getting better, when they are patently not
Like in Blair's 'speech' yesterday where he claimed New Labour were a party tough on Law and Order, thus earning them the criticism of being neo conservative.

What Politically Correct planet is that bloke on?!? We need to get these deluded fools out of office. The prospect of a third term of their 'reforms' fills me with dread.

Hey, UB, why not join up to our new Common Sense Party? No more PC rubbish, no more Stalinist controls on your personal mobility and no more talking just for the sake of it.

It's quite obvious the police have it all wrong and their figures are at deviance with the facts published by the government. President Blair has it all under control and it is his figures we should accept. Our perception of rising crime and poor performance by police and courts are out of line with what is really happening. We can trust what the President says and his judgement is spot on. He is a man of the people and lives in the real world.

What is the saying about birds of a feather?
Is there any truth in the saying, you can judge somebody by the company they keep?
We all know that Peter Mandlson was asked to leave the cabinet twice and it was beasly unfair each time. He was just a sweet innocent abroad.

Blair is having us over and he is so cocky he has got away with it again he has shown us two fingers and appointed one of his cronnies to a plumb job.

Tiggers

No problem, and I agree with what you say about the trouble building up over so many years, its becoming a bit of a frightener now.

Didn't New York have a massive and successful clamp down on crime using extra police, zero tolerance and the 3 strikes and you're out scheme?
Might be worth copying their methods.
