The inside is much improved; climate control was nice in todays heat; much quieter inside; loads more torque low down; flared arches look good in the flesh; spec c geometry and wider wheels makes it even more like a go kart; new grey looks the dogs... 3 weeks and counting !

Mm.... nice. You're not planning to wait the extra week and get the '54' plate then?

Saw my car at motopoint yesterday. Looks like an MY04 to me. It does have smoked lights though.

Just waiting for 1/9 when they slap a new reg on it.

Thumbs down

Well from the pics the changes seem to make the cars look worse, the only positive seems to be that new colour grey. The switch changes look noi better than the current lot and if you look closely enough, thats not Climate Control, its rather more semi automatic Air conditioning

I happen to think the new interior is a lot nicer than the old and looks classier but each to their own. As for the semo auto a/c, I think you will find it is full automatic air con this time. Check out http://www.cars101.com/subaru/imprez...005photos.html

The US spec car, basically identical inside, has this as a new feature for My05, so I would be amazed if they changed the dials but not change it to fully automatic. It would go against all economies of scale. Then again, I could be talking complete sh*te!

Why doesn't the Lichfield photo show the flared rear wheel arch?

Smoked headlights = form/function unless brighter bulbs installed. Should be Xenon by now IMHO.

Shift pattern must be a 'US only' feature please

Hope climate control is °f not °C

Door insert looks cr4p (and isn't wide enough to be a proper armrest). Cupholders look cr4ppy

Will the WRX have the rev counter centrally placed in the dials, as shown in the photos?

Why do the Americans stick with 16" wheels? Surely you don't buy a car like the Impreza with a view to a comfy ride

Maybe that's an STI thing, to accommodate the new wider wheels?

The '05 JDM STI doesn't have smoked headlights. It does, however, have HID lights. My guess is that the Euro car will have neither - Subaru do seem bizarrely resistant to bring HIDs to Europe. They've had them in Japan for ages.

Looks like it's just a sticker to me. Hairdryer anyone?

It's °F on the US car and °C in Japan and Europe.

Ever driven in the US? Some of their roads make ours feel like a newly surfaced racetrack. Stuff 16" wheels, you need huge, balloon-like tyres to make for a tolerable ride - which of course is one reason why American cars can't corner.

Yes, it's an option for next year on the STI.

so that will make it a WR1 virtually with an 05 PPP?

Any price on the option yet?

Yes - In fact I'd be pretty sick right now if I'd just bought a WR1.

No prices yet, in fact I doubt most dealers even know it's going to be available. However, one European Subaru site (Sweden?) did list DCCD as an option when I looked a few weeks ago, and Litchfield is advertising a Euro-spec car with DCCD.

Was rumoured to be a £1000 option. So theoretically, an MY05 with all the bits will be about the price of a WR1. 24+2K(PPP)+2(Wheels)+1K(DCCD)= 30K.

The 05 Sti PPP might be 320Ps like the WR1, but I've not heard for definate that this will be the case.

Generally speaking that motor is ugly. They always seem to do this with a car shape that has historically rocked... all smoothed edges and Mondeo-type girth

Yes I have been told it is an MY05, as they did not have any SL wagons at the factory when I ordered (June!!) and said I would have to wait until the 05 models were here. I am going over to the dealers at lunchtime to sort out extras and will check.

You're doing very well, then - the first JDM '05 cars have only been in the country for a few weeks. Congrats!

Black wagon

Would be very interested to know if it is an MY05 from a UK dealer. I changed my order only yesterday (WRX SL Wagon) from my dealer from a WR Blue to the new Crystal Grey (assuming that it will come to this country), and asked him if he knew any more. He said he had no more news BUT that the potential issue is that Subaru currently have unsold stock of 800 vehicles (WRX) at their compound and these are wating to be sold. Fair enough, this will not stop MY05 coming in, but for a small company like Subaru, and a niche market for WRX's, this is a lot.

The main thing I find interesting is how your dealer is selling an MY05 to you when Suabru themselves will not admit it is even coming as yet, there is no official notification on their website of the MY05, and there are a lot of MY04 unsold. For your sake I hope it is, but hope you are not getting shafted by the dealer.

We'll wait and see. Good luck

Andy

I pick mine up on 1st, but have never expected an MY05 as i never thought they would be available until the end of the year.
