P.s. Any one want to buy a really nice TR7 convertible.

Blimey I forgot some,

yet another Morris Marina Coupe, a bright yellow Toyota Celica Liftback, so called because anytime you went anywhere in it you needed a 'liftback', but it only cost me a bottle of scotch. Also a mkII Golf GTI.

Most of the cars in the list above cost me no more than a hundred pounds.
It costs that much just for the brake pads on the Scoob!

Gaz.

Hmm. 10 years driving;

1. C-reg Golf 1.4 (4 years)
2. J-reg Renault 19 1.4 (5 years)

then

3. MY00 UK Turbo pushing out 260bhp & 255lb/ft.

That was a bit of a jump...

ps - can you tell when I started earning?

Here goes and I’ll list bikes (only ones with an engine) as well:

1. Suzuki TS50 (bike)
2. Honda MBX80 (Bike)
3. Yamaha RD350LC (Bike) (Stolen)
4. Triumph Acclaim
5. Yamaha RD350LC (Bike)
6. Ford Capri 2.8i
7. Yamaha RZV500R (JDM RD500LC) (Bike)
8. Ford Escort XR3i
9. MGB GT
10. Rover 825 Sterling
11. Tickford Capri (Still in Garage)
12. Capri 2.8i (Written Off)
13. Ford Fiesta Pop
14. Austin Montego 1.6
15. Capri 2.8i
16. Rover 820Si
17. Toyota Avensis GL TD
18. Rover 75 Club 2.0CDTI
19. Rover 213S
20. Subaru Impreza STI7 (JDM MY01 Bugeye)

In my defence it has been 19 over years; do I get an award for biggest leap into Scooby ownership from a 16 year old Rover 213 to an STI7?

Paul.

Ooh, debatable - only in chronological terms; you've owned quicker cars than the Rover.

My jump was the 80bhp Renault to a 260bhp Scooby - I think that's edging it at the mo...8)

Talking

I think I definatley have this problem too, since passing my test when I was 17 6 years ago I've managed to own in chronological order;

1. Mini Clubman 1977
2. Austin Montego 1987
3. Peugeot 106 GTi 1998
4. Citroen AX GT 1990
5. Citroen 2CV 1982
6. Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000
7. Citroen Xantia TD 1995 (now my girlfriends car)
8. Renault Clio Sport 172 2002
9. Gilera Runner 125 2000 (yes I know its not a car but hey)
10. Peugeot 306 1.4 XL 1996
11. Citroen Xantia HDi 2000 (still own this one)
12. Suzuki Bandit 600 2000 (another one I still own)
13. Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk1 1980 (and again)

Wow, the list is bigger than I thought! I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed!

Oh and do I not win a prize for the biggest jump - a 2CV to a Scooby?

Chris

Sheesh! Either I've just been lucky with reliability or I just don't get bored of cars half as quickly as some of you guys

In 12 years:

Fiat Panda 45 (Mum's old car, grp 1 insurance. Don't laugh, it matters at that age!)
Rover 216S (Dad used to have one. Comfy but unreliable)
Nissan 100NX (Actually I still miss this car, quirky with Targa roof)
Subaru Impreza (UK) (Fantastic car, currently for sale)
Westfield SEW (Great fun but too much tinkering required)
Ford Escort van (Worthless heap with MOT, keeps grubby stuff out of the scooby!)
Subaru Impreza STI (JDM) (On order - can't wait!! )

My list starts off with a lot of Fords because my dad worked for them and I got a huge discount.

Escort 1.8D GLX (Extra company had to be a diesel )
Fiesta 1.4S (Simple and fun)
Fiesta 1.6S (Wanted an XR2i, not the same!)
Fiesta XR2i 16V (Got it!)
Renault Clio 16V (Great car, I still miss it.)
Ford Mondeo 2.5 Si (Wanted a Puma but no discount at the time, big mistake!)
Mitsubishi FTO GPX (Liked it a lot apart from the hard ride and depreciation.)
Alfa Romeo 147 2.0TS (Lovely engine, handling good after lowered, nasty clutch!)
Subaru WRX Bugeye (Best all round car apart from the petrol consumption)

So that's one car every two years although I had the Clio for three and the Mondeo for just one. Does that make me sane or just boring?

Marc

Mk 1 ford escort estate (written off 1 day after passing test)
Vauxhall Chevett estate (written off after a year by a lorry)
Vauxhall Mk1 Astra SR (100,000 miles of very fun motoring)
Opel Manta GTE (written off but great on a wet roundabout)
Opel Manta GTE
Toyota Mk1 MR2
Toyota Mk1 MR2 (Written off, previous one did survive, honest)
Opel Monza 3.0 GSE
Opel Manta GTE
Nissan 200SX (1.8 with bigger turbo, scary, lots of lag)
Toyota Mk3 MR2 (Written off, + the best handling car I have ever owned, - handlings a bit poor when all four wheels are pointing at the sky)
Ford escort Mk 4 1.6 Ghia
Mitsubishi EVO V
Ford escort Mk 5 1.4
Subaru STi MY03

Thats after 20 years of driving, what worries me now I have put that list together, is that 1/3 of all my cars have been written off. God thats bad.

Oooh, devil, was it a genuine Manta 400 ?, that used to be my dream car

Mog what's the RS4 like as a everyday car. Does it attract adverse attention. I think that would be my dream car for all round ability...or am I talking a load of old cobblers?

I've had 21 main cars in my 18 driving years as well as another 8 cars that I've had as toys from Rally cars to LandRovers.

Looking down my list only two cars I regret buying, a 2 year old MG Metro Turbo when I was 18 and a Peugeot 405 in 1993.
The Metro was an unreliable, poor handling shed and the Peugeot's 1.9 non injection engine was verypoor and had a terrible gearbox.

The car I have the best memories for was a 1987 Sierra 2.0 GL that I had back in 1989, I had £4k of ICE installed and did shows at weekends (Before it became popular with the boom boom max power crowd) Me and my mates went all over the country and had soume great times. The car itself wasn't any thing special but gave us wonderful times.

Cheers
Lee

Its great as a everyday drive with all the toys and comfort with which you can blow most other cars away, but I want something a bit lighter and more raw for a weekend blast/trackdays as it just sits there most of the time hence it has only done 9,400 miles.

Never had a ton of money to spend on cars

£800 Ford Escort 1.3 Popular D reg (until garage didn't put sump plug on properly)
£450 Ford Escort 1.6 Sport G reg (until taxi driver wrote it off)
£360 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L 5dr G reg (temp replacement when the Sport was stolen for a few days, and for the many days that it wasnt working. Eventually took it for MOT and the mechanic pulled the wings off with his hands and told me not ot even bother)
£100 Ford Escort 1.6 GL 5dr G Reg with the engine from the 1.6 Sport (until camshaft snapped the week before starting new job now with company car)
VW Golf 1.9 TDI 90 (until work gave me a shiny nice-seeming Audi TT)
Audi TT 225 (until the lease runs out in September and I can get rid of the bloody thing and get an STI instead)

The last Escort is still around the back of my flat awaiting me to find the time to put some insane engine it and scare the local scallys. Wonder if the Scoob engine will fit
