Potassium permanganate and iodine are antiseptics, sulphur is a laxative, manganese dioxide can be found in alkaline batteries, conc sulhpuric in lead acid batteries, household ammonia = ammonium hydroxide, drain cleaner = sodium hydroxide, bleach = sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide is a hair bleach and antiseptic, potassium nitrate is a diuretic, common pool chemicals contain some of the base constituents for "plastic" explosive. Even nitro glycerin is a common medicine for angina!

AB - I know (of) a couple of lads that can set off lots and lots of car alarms using only lawn food and deisel

I sometimes treat my pond with Potassium Permanganate and then clear the wather with hydrogen peroxide.
People warned me about not spilling a few drops of brake fluid onto a few PP chrystals
Be careful out there though

Pontificating
Take one empty two litre coke bottle (plastic), add two handfulls of Carbon Dioxide pellets (Dry Ice), add 500ml water, tighten screw cap and run away.
Always gives off a lovely bang, especially in the back of an artic trailer(or empty warehouse), neighbours at work had a delivery every evening by artic, parked across our entrance every night and didn't give a monkeys when politely asked to move and became a little too lippy, he takes off his first trolley and wheels in to neighbours warehouse, we sling the "bottle" in the back of his trailer, as he comes back on the forks the thing goes off, he nearly rolled the forks he stopped parking over our entrance after that, he knew it was us because we were uncontrolably pissing ourselves laughing at this **** nearly crashing the forks!!
Any small plastic bottle will do, we are toying with the idea of using a bottle which is used to transport infectious blood, 4mm thick can withstand a plane crash and has a proper industrial screw lid, just a little concerned about potential schrapnel !!

We used to make cyanide gas from crushing a common garden plant's leaves.
We would then have bets on how long a bee or wasp would last in a jar of it (10 to 15 secs was the norm)

Technically that gas would be hydrogen cyanide!
It can also be found in small quantities in fruit stones (like cherry, peach and plum) bound to an aldehyde which gives it an almondy smell!

Hmm, most ppl cant get hold of solid CO2
Manganese dioxide works to liberate oxygen from hydrogen peroxide and therefore can be a good accelerant in any low explosive application!

Most of my saltpetre went into gunpowder. I did experiment with adding magnesium powder and some potassium permanganate more for the visual effect, but I tended to just go for the no frills destructive bangs! A simple copper tube with the ends folded over full of gunpowder is..... interesting (if you can make a reliable fuse)!

Or you can make a paste with the above and coat string in it.
If you want a huge granage type bang put a few grams of flash in two pop bottle caps with a bolt and nut to make it very tight.
