Your talking about one person here it doesnt reflect the whole of Scotland. The same as there probably are areas in england where someone wearing a scotland top would get beaten up. Just because you havent seen it doesnt mean it doesnt happen. Realistically both countries are as bad as each other when it comes to this sort of thing. I wear a Manchester United top quite often up here and have never had any problem. Try going down Duke street in glasgow wearing a Celtic top and see what happens

There will always be a number of narrow-minded individuals who seek pleasure in other's misfortune. In thise case, they have displayed their racist/biogted/call-it-what-you-like nature by saying things like:

It's all because the commentators are so arrogant that we hate your whole nation

How mature...

At the end of the day, if you hate English people for no better reason than from what you think a commentator means when he says "England are sure to win this" then you're a bit ignorant really. Count yourselves lucky that you don't have a REAL reason to hate your neighbouring country - move to the middle east and see how quickly you realise that the English aren't so bad afterall...

At the end of the day, it makes me smile when I hear/see someone saying/typing English-hating comments - it really does show the pathetic narrow-mindedness of those particular individuals. We all know that you've no GOOD reason to say those things - so it must be jealously, so I'm very flattered. Thank you!!!

If there was a time for a wind up, this isn't it, grow up and stop embarrasing the rest of your nation with this childish rubbish.

Ok, we played bad, but they didn't play well enough to win.

Obviously they did play well enough to win, as they are through

You're in Good Company though Ian Wright said " Portugal won't win Euro 2004 as they aren't good enough but we could have as we are good enough"......not sure of the logic but there you go.

Did you not see the disallowed goal then?

England played crap and yet we scored 2 goals to Portugal's 1. Simple really.

I dont think people hate the nation because of the commentators, its more they want to see england lose to shut the commentators up.

Also there is a lot of english who say/type they hate Scots so by comparison, english are jealous of Scots too ? Im very flattered. Thank you too.

I wasn't aware of that. I guess it comes down to a "You started it!" situation. Oh well as far as I am concerned, you're welcome down to England any time you please. Am I welcome in Scotland as far as you're concerned?

I have English friends, I support an English football club and have done for over 25 years. As far as im concerned your welcome in Scotland anytime you like.

My problem is English commentators and English people who have this superiority complex and think its their God given right to be the best. Not all English are like this but they are just tarred with the same brush. The same as a Scot hates english so all scots hate english attitudes. Each country is as bad as each other in this respect, but dont think for one minute that all scots hate the english and no english hate the scots.

Just not true. *Massive* over-generalisation.

Put your Scottish newspaper down and go and meet a few of them. You might be surprised...

Without trying to be biased here, I honestly believe that John Terry infringed the keeper and the goal was rightly disallowed. If it had been the other way around England would have been up in arms over it.

Terrys arm was over the keeper stopping him from reaching the ball, it was a direct infringement, and I really am keeping an open mind over this.

The same can also be said of the Scots. We have no statistics here so really the arguement is irrelevant isnt it ?

Unfortunately, in the cold light of day, i think you're right. Most referees in the Premiership would probably have disallowed it.

Its a 50/50 decision, in any European game its likely that would be given as a free kick. In the Premiership you might get away with it more often but bottom line is physical contact with a keeper 95% of the time goes against the attacker.

Indeed. Perhaps the best guide will be the next time Scotland are eliminated from a football or similar tournament. If you notice a *real* vein of contempt towards the Scots from the English, please let me know. Cheers.

I would like to add although i was cheering Portugal, I do believe the ref, did give some bad decisions against England, as much as i dont want to i will concede this fact. At the end of the day though, Portugal played a far superior game to England, I honestly think they deserved the win.

You might have to wait a long time. We have to qualify for a tournament before we can get knocked out. Maybe my grandchildren can tell your grandchildren if they notice anything

I was cheering portugal because i wanted then to win. I was cheering Portugal because of the English commentator elitism and biased approach to commenting on a game. If these people could take their blinkers off then maybe i would cheer england on.

With the looks and attitudes on the faces of the Portugese players I imagine if that was anything to go on, their commentators were probably worse than ours.
