NBO2 opened my eyes to how many people are actually Subaru enthusiasts

Its a 02 STi RA spec c.
Wind up windows etc... fixed diff 50:50 ratio etc
Its what a group N rally car starts life as..
Its less road biased, more competition focused.
I know there arent many in the UK.
325BHP and its done 12.8 1/4 mile at York.

Will that not make the car less quick as surely its optimised for the 2.0ltr engine.

I dunno, the owner is very wary about losing the snappy power delivery though...
Hes still unsure how to go... I`m sure Roger Clark will not muck it up.
I still dont know why he wants to change it!
He`s a mechanic(owns his own garage) and he has to make it as quick as is possible...Funny breed eh!
I`d be happy to swap his engine as it is!!!

I don't think Scooby owners need to know the ins & outs, history & significance of every model year & special edition to qualify for 'enthusiast' status.
Everyone who made the trip to NBO (all 460+) I think deserve thanks for their support of the event. Being there demontrates you're enthusiastic about Scoobies even if you happen to be a bit ignorant of the rarer breeds !
Well done Lord Harding - look forward to an even bigger event next year.
p.s. agree about the dump valve 'show' - bit inconsiderate - we were hoping it was gonna go 'bang' and give us some peace & quiet.

Maddy's car is fab - full stop.
Surely events like NBO can only be of benefit & people are more likely to become "Enthusiasts" by casually attending at first then getting more genned up year on year. The 2 who I brought with me were spotting 22b's, Spec C's, S202's etc etc, neither own a Scoob but both want to...............
I've spent an absolute fortune on my car, probably more than I can afford & continue to do so, refreshed with ideas after meets like NBO & the local "Enthusiasts" monthlies. FFS, Last year I bought my current car purely after being blown away by one at NBO1!
I think it's great, I love it, of course I think it was the best car there, the same as lots of other people who were there who to them their car is the best (Tony obviously included ). It didn't attract the judges attention but my dummy is still in my particular pram.
IMHO, all who bothered to turn up on the day from a few miles to hundreds away displayed a passion for this marque. They were/are all enthusiasts.
Just my (rather long winded 2p!).
Steve
PS, One suggestion to Lordy would be that people are encouraged to list on the sheets given out what mods/features they have (Voluntarily of course) as it's not always obvious that for example the rather ordinary looking WRX is infact full of interesting things. Might get more people chatting outside their established circles.

my point Tony, is that (and I did notice your Spec C), probably 80% maybe 90% of us could have got upset that others were there with S202s, 22Bs, Spec Cs etc.. but we weren't. i don't understand why it should be an issue for you that peeps may not have mentioned or recognised your car?
The fact is, that most people dont talk to anyone anymore (unless your in either an owners group or local subaru owners group) which seem to have many more die hard owners in them
I will say that im not the "only" person who has noticed this no doubt from those who have never experienced the "community" spirit from which subaru owners use to have (alot of the longer serving owners should understand this ) with the likes of the northern runs out where people acutally did talk to everyone else there about their cars. For those who dont understand and just open their mouths thinking that im high and mighty try getting some of the spirit of subaru ownership by understanding everything about these cars rather than just stuck in your own world of single performance car ownership, look a little deeper and you may well find out what im saying is true which is ashame because the new owners should be the ones trying to learn about the different models rather than which mods they can do next
So for all you GL (1.6 and 1.8) wrx in various forms (new age and classic) wrx type RA, wrx type R (nope didnt see one at the NBO2), STi type UK, STi JDM, GL/EL and Spec C, Sti limiteds, 555 specials, type R and type RA, P1, 22B, Cats, terzo's, RB5's (WR and non WR versions), WR1, classic Sport, UK300's, S201 adn S202, type 25, Legacy owners (this includes those B4 RSK owners ) and any other model i may have missed out, go look around at the other cars at meets and learn abit
Tony

Community Spirit works both ways
Why should people talk to you ?
Talk to them
Some people are shy
I remember my very first meet local pub in Southend I walked in and there was a large gathering of people and it felt daunting because they were all talking to each other.
I went to the bar grabbed a pint, there was 2 people at the bar and as I was just about to go and introduce myself to the masses one guy said are you with the club I responded and said yep it was my first meet these 2 guys both said it was there first meet but they didn't want to interupt the meet.
They came over with me and I introduced myself and my new "friends"
and as they say the rest is history
My new friends are NOW true friends and I like to think most people know me
So its not one way traffic

To add to phil's post about Community Spirit etc....
I've only had my Scooby 4 month's and I've only been to 3 Cumbrian Scoob's meeting's ,I went to the first meeting thinking well I'll give it a go and see what there like.
And I found them a very welcoming and friendly group, as I found most people where at the NBO the number of people who asked me about the boot spoiler on my car was amazing.
Having been a member of the RS owners club for a number of years ,I only went to one meting and found them a very unfriendly bunch so I never went back...what a difference to Cumbrian Scoob's
I think idea of putting the A4 sheet of paper in the window with the Scoobynet nick name and car type was a good idea ,I didn't have one im my car but I was going down the lines of cars looking at the pieces of paper thinking I've seen that car or nick name ummm wonder who the owner is....
So far I have nothing but prise for the Scooby commentary on a hole ,my dealer's an enthusiast ,most people on Scooby net seem to be enthusiast's and very helpful same goes for my local Scooby group....

So Tony i take it you want to educate all us single minded car owners about your car further. Well why not become more involved like Martin and John did and make the effort to organise a SPEC C Car stand instead of whinging about how ignorant we all are. Cause maybe we didn`t know or wanna know what your car is. If we spend so much money and Time on our cars why do we have to worry about what your car is. We can all appreciate without having to come over and ask.
Maybe some of us know more about your car than what you do. So why should we have to ask?
Why didnt you come over and ask me what my car was about mate. I would of stood all day talking cars and Subaru`s.
I think that everyone that came to the show was true enthusiast to the Subaru brand or they wouldnt of bothered getting out of bed to stand in a field. I am proud to be part of it.
