There's no such thing as an "STi 7 Prodrive". STi7's are all 2001MY, and the "Prodrive Style" cars were all 2002MY.
The best way to use the numbers is, as Phil says, simply not to use 'em at all. However, if you are going to use them, the only system with any sort of legitimacy is
MY01 cars = STi 7
MY02 cars = STi 8
MY03 cars = STi 9
MY04 cars = STi 10

Exactly. That's why trying to lump the various JDM, UK, Eu, US and wherever cars together under a single "number" has always been a confusing and ultimately pointless exercise. It never worked on the Bugeyes either, as there were detail differences (different turbos, transmissions etc.) between the UK and JDM cars anyway.
As said above, if you're going to use a number, the system explained above is the only one with any legitimacy at all. However, it's simpler all round if an MY04 STi Type UK is simply called that, an MY03 JDM STi is called that, and so on.

I took the pic's of my m8's car outside me hoose in sunny northumberland (not) he waited an awful long time for this but loves it.i am going to attempt a photo of his white sti,my red wrx and my neighbours WR Blue wrx patriotic or what see u at the NBO2 Jabb's.
