It's the whole ownership prospect you have to take into account, not just the fact that your baked bean tin could sneak ahead of him in a 'race' (do you know if he was even giving it everything?)

All you have to do is sit in an M3 to realise it's actually had some money spent on it when it was made whereas IMO you can only describe a Scoob as 'cheap'

Plus the M3 will hold it's value like a Subaru can only dream of these days.....
Big difference in new price as well

Indeed

Hows this for a theory though....

I would buy an M3 new but there is no way in the world I would spunk my hard earned on a brand new Scoob.....

Hi Skittles,

Yeah mate. You may remember a few months back now that I agreed with you and a few others that I had voiced my opinion enough times that maybe I should keep quiet about M3's from then on - hence I have kept quiet about them - man of my word if nothing else

Even you must admit that the M3 vs Scooby topic has:

a) been done to death on here (use the search Luke, use the search)
b) no right/wrong answer - it's horses for courses

Anyway I'd better get back in my box

Just let me know if you want me to come out of retirement on the M3 subject won't you now

Regards,

tiggers.

why does every thread here turn onto an internet argument??

personally i`d have a convertable gold M3 with the hard top,

my mate had for one a while, and he had a 360, ( now hes got neither)

been in both but for an everyday car the M3 looks great and went wel and has a very high bmw build quality

aaron..

Beat an M3 at a track day at Croft (yes he was going for it) with my standard STi prodrive. But now considering buying one, they look and sound the boll***s. Found a less than two years old one for less than £30k. Also been told off a friend from BMW that there is a new shape due in two years.

i have owned both.
had an rb5, wr de-cat, tec2 set up by power engineering
and now own an m3 new shape 343 bph etc

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON!
People chat about how fast there scooby is but look what you have to do to them !cause lets face it, standard they are ****, but with a bit of work they are a beast.

With the m3 you just get in and drive, but the downside is you pay for this privilidge
my verdict
the m3 is a complete car in every way that includes price unfortunately.
performance wise my impreza would keep up with it till say 70 mph then it would get canned and i mean canned by the m3
impreza i loved it except now the boy racers can afford them. and it was time to move on .

well I was going to get an e46 M3 (i'm a massive bimmer fan) but in the end I kept my 323 for comfort, build quality, 4 doors and purchased a P1 for driving pleasure.

Having test driven a few M3's you feel that they are heavy cars and the handling isn't as good as a P1. They pull well from low down though due to a big engine and no turbo.

IMHO if I molded them both together I would have an M3, i just split them apart.

I love BMW's, hate turbo's, dont think 4 cylinder cars are smooth enough and hate a car with crappy interior. still purchased a P1 after driving it. That should speak volumes to anyone on here.
