I'm selling my very rare Evo 7 Extreme S (380bhp/380lbs, switchable anti-lag, etc) - cost £50k new (for first owner, I'm the second) for not far from your budget. Still under warranty from Extreme. It's a Nov 2002 car with 20k miles.

It's one of 2 S's built on GSR spec so still reains A/C and normal gearing. Btw, it's black in colour.

I thought I'd BTTT this thread as I'm still in the market for a "25k car"

My list has altered a bit...

- STI 8 - nope

- Mitsubishi Evo - nope

- Clio V6 255 - mmm still very tempted. Took one out last week and was very impressed. Only problem is practicality (or rather, the lack of...) I'd struggle to get the supermarket shop in FFS

- Nissan 350z - looks very nice. Not seen one up close. A bit more practical than the Clio but not much !

- Alfa 147 GTA - not heard much about them but just taken one out and was impressed.

Anything else I should be considering

Thanks,

Matt

A good friend has a UK dealer supplied R32 for sale. 7 months old, black, leather and approx 7k miles, circa £20/21k. The car was £25/26K OTR if I recall correctly. He's moving to Oz tomorrow so has to get rid asap.

Do you need rear seats? S2000 or s/h Boxster would be my choice.

if its a mitsi it gotta be the 6Tommi Mak edition as they are the best looking evo ever!
they should have very good depreciation aswell
and theres only 1 R32 to consider and thats a nissan GTR ps every 1 should own a R32GTR as they give good smiles per miles and you could buy a evo5 with the change as a runabout
350Z -nice
clio v6 hmm cant see what you are thinking there
dum de de dum
lotus exige
a nice 5 grand impreza and spend the rest on a rallycar and go have some fun

spend £300 on a old banger and the rest on a better rallycar and have even more fun

good luck

V6 is a waist of money, let down on performance....the 172 / cup /182 are just as quick and they all fall apart anyway, looks amazing though...

Gotta say my brothers in a similar position to your self and the V6 was top of the list, for looks alone, then we test drove one........

All show and no go, cant believe they claim 230-255BHP for em, look fantastic, sound fantastic, but very disappointing to drive(it was a mark 1,but the experience was enough to knock the V6 off the list)

He's now debating between a Mini works and a 330BM..........Last week it was a new Clio 182 and a Duke 749.......the more dollars you have to play with, the bigger the headache eh?!

I can't understand why people compare the V6 with the 172/182
They're completely different cars aimed at completely different markets. Its like comparing an Impreza Sport GL with a 22B.

I'm also surprised how many people confuse the MK1 with the MK2 and tar the V6 with the same brush. The MK2 is such a better car than the original.(IMHO )

I agree the TM edition of the Evo was the nicest looking one, but I'm looking for a newer car...

Really ?!

Has it just appeared recently as one has come up for sale at the Fiat Piccadilly garage between Knaresborough and Borobridge not so long ago...

People compare the 172/182 with the v6 because they are all built by renault.......and the V6 is the best offering they have on the performance end of things, the top of the range, the most expensive (of the cars we generaly know from Renault) and its a let down. For the money its terrible value.......and the performance is not that much better than the 172/182's..... so its fair to compare them.............you would expect a huge / massive difference in performance between a Impreza Gl and a 22b..........as you mention.........so people would expect the V6 to be something special.

Agree with Dr Evo, people will make a comparison between the Renualts, they are the their (renualt's)top line sports models, people with a Imprezza sport wanna aspire to a WR1 or whatever the top turbo model is at the moment.

If youve got a GSXR600, you really want a GSXRthou etc etc

Those who own a Clio 172/182 and looking to change to a V6 for the same thrill factor the smaller car has ,in the driving experience alone, will be disappointed.

It certainly didnt feel as lively as my bro's 172, it probably was quicker, but only marginally..Believe me,he wanted to love it, but just left disappointed

I dont know what they weigh, but I reckon the weight kills 'em.(??)...Mark 1 or 2...

i own a 182 and have to say there is soo much more to a car than 0-60 times and straight line grunt. how anyone can compare a 182/172 (front engined front wheel drive car) to a V6 (mid engined rear) is beyond me. i've driven both and as a far as the driving experience goes they are totally different. the weight the feel etc... what lets the V6 down is that its not quite the right car for any catagory. i.e. track day weapon/track and road/just road you can get much better for your money. as previously mentioned though, they aint two a penny and you will get noticed.
and the sound they make is awesome!

you have a difficult choice my friend

p.s. it was the mk 2 i had a go in

matlow - you have hit the nail on the head

All brybusa and Dr Evo talk about is performance. Like you've said, there is so much more to a car than performance. The way the V6 looks, any performance the Clio has pales into insignificance.

It has been said that for 25k it offers terrible value for money...why ? Tell me a car that costs 25k or less with such individual styling, that would turn heads like it does. That you could park up in the street and be almost guaranteed that people will be asking questions. Wondering if it was a one off / special edition / prototype etc

I could go out tomorrow and buy a Mini Cooper, Evo, Impreza, TT with my 25k, but why bother when there are 20 of each in the town I live ?

Its nice to have some individuality once in a while.

Make you mind up - You might not be a Hair dresser but you are starting to sound like a woman. If you want performance / Handling get an Evo/STi8 If you want something that's individual and looks nice get a Renault - But FFS make you mind up

Terzo, I agree with you. I too sold my P1 and was looking at the MkII V6. I actually went for a Mini Cooper S in the end, but ONLY becuase I got a good discount, I just bought a new expensive house and needed a fun car with good residuals. The MCS now has the BBR220 conversion so should keep me going 'til next year. Then, I will be looking at a low mileage used V6 Clio again. Just fancy something with that 'wow' factor that is rear wheel drive, offers exclusivity, sounds great and has some grunt. I am sure with some minor breathing tweaks the Clio would be quick enough to scare Impreza's and you'll be having more fun with bigger smiles....

Matt is a girl

Enough Childish stuff - The Renault certainly turns heads and wont be as "popular" as the common rice rockets. I'd still spend the money on a STi8 if I were you - You don't look at the car when you're driving it !!!

Good luck with your eventual choice - Unless you start be even more Girlie and never make your mind up .

As it stands...I'm still not sure

(I think) I've got my heart set on a Clio and have done for a long time. I think I'd regret not getting one now.

I'll keep you posted..

(Any more suggestions btw...?)

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS go with your HEART - Your head will just get you all confused and you'll regret it (Unless you're skint - The HEART tends to be expensive but FUN !!!).

This applies to everything in Life - Not just motors
