I asked my friend to check out a S202 that was advertised and while he liked the performance and rarity, he is worried about the lack of airbag. Could this be corrected by a STI replacement wheel?
I HAVE A S202 IN THE VERSION 8 MODEL , I TOOK IT TO WARINGTON ON THE ROLLING ROAD AND THE BEAST PRODUCED 370 BHP AT THE FLYWHEEL AND 300BHP AT THE WHEELS. IF ANYBODY HAS THE SPECIFACATIONS FOR THE VEHICLE AS I HAVE NEVER KNOWN THE ACTUAL SPECS SEND THEM TO
Hi Rasher, I have spoken to you before earlier in the year. I bought a yellow S202 in January and was supposed to put up some pics. I absolutely love the car. I am buying a really nice digital camera, and putting up a website so I will have a lot of pics for you, and all the other rally cars that my friends own. I remember you telling me you had the Optimax conversion done to your ECU. I live in Antigua in the Caribbean, and I'm coming up to the UK next month. Is this upgraded ECU something I can buy or do they need to tune it in the car? I know the car has an air flow meter so I assume if I got an Optimax ECU tuned for race fuel and 22psi of boost, it should be able to run safely. Please let me know your thoughts as I really want to be careful. Also, I assume I will have to put in a boost gauge also right?
Hi Rasher, last night a friend of mine who has the other S202 on the island decided to turn up his boost to 19psi (well that's what he said), and took the car to the quarter mile track. He has turned up the boost before and has done a 12.4, but this time he missed third gear and ended up damaging the engine. I assume he has burnt a piston as the car must have been running too lean. We are not supposed to turn up the boost unless we have an upgraded computer right?
wouldnt touch the boost at all mate, has the car been professionally remapped?
Hi Rasher, he still has the standard computer in and decided to turn the boost up. He definately learned the hard way. I would like to get the Optimax conversion, but John from TSL says they need to tune the computer in the car. I was hoping he could reflash the computer with the map he used for other S202s and the air flow meter would correct any small changes in atmosphere etc. Do you have a boost controller to turn the boost down when you are not racing? I want to take my car to the track and do a quarter mile time. If I were to put 110 unleaded fuel in, and take of my pipe off of the downpipe, do you think that would be safe?
I was hoping he could reflash the computer with the map he used for other S202s
I had my remap done as I said by Richard Bulmer, along with another guy who has an S202. Richard said that he thought he might be half way therewith mine after remapping the other guys, but he said they we totally different and had to start from scratch, so it would seem everyone is different.
I dont have a boost controller on mine as I didnt see the need
