First some first served.

Granted, there are those who need disabled spaces, but it gets on my nerves when I see someone with a disabled badge who is perfectly able-bodied otherwise. Went shopping at Tesco last night, and parked up the same time a old geezer in a merc. We follwed him more or less right round the store, and he never had any problems as he whistled up and down every aisle. - We struggled more than he did, and I had a pregnant woman in tow - and do I get a badge? Do i f*** - and I needed one more than merc geezer.

Thats so true. If your disabled odds on the governmnet give you a car via motability schemes. Sh*t I should become a full time disabled doley whos gay lover (with child in tow) has gender issues . Id be richer than all of you put together. (JOKE) Id be like that fat cow of house swap that gets **** loads for sitting on her **** all day long, wazza name, goodie i think

But then your girlfriend/wife wouldn't have anything to do once she's finished the housework.

Lizzie.

You loved her admit it.
Damn she needed spaying. And her fella needed a good kick up the jacksie too. He got busted by the papers for working whilst claiming dole / invalidity and a variety of other benefits. Its just one big scam and the govt is taking the p155 by going along with it. Bet nothing happened to him. They should have stopped his benefits for starters.

Anyway lets get back on topic

As a father I can say that mother and baby spaces are an excellent invention. The extra space is very useful when lifting kids into and out of cars.

When I find someone who obviously doesn't have kids parked in one I usually ask them to move (politely). If they don't then I'm quite happy to park my "oversized 4x4" in one of two places:

1) Right next to your treasured car - safe in the knowledge that when my door gets slammed open or the trolley kicked out of the way as I struggle with the kids it's nicely on a level with your doors

2) My preferred option - right behind the car using the M&B space. Given that I'll be doing a family shop (and probably have to stop at the cafeteria with the kiddies) it's going to take me 2-3 hours to get round Sainsbury's.

Of course if I parking the Subaru it's at the back of the car park where I can find a clear space on either side

I think what gets me is the sheer number of disabled and 'mother and baby' (Shouldn't that be parent and baby?) spaces at the stores. At my local tesco there must be about 80 spaces set aside for this. I'm sorry, but there just aren't that many disabled people around, and FWIW I agree with Nacro about the M&C spaces!

Lets cover your options gavnick

Option 1: I remove something expensive from your car or slash the tyres

Option 2: I ram the crap out of your car until it moves or the bumper falls off my shed, if it does I leave it in the car park and call a taxi, try opening your doors with a £100 auction special parked in the side of it you tw*t. Alternatively I drive straight out of the space by moving forward.

If you have problems lifting your children in and out of the car can I suggest

a. Not having them in the first place

b. Getting a car you can actually manage to reach up to

or alternately

c. load the thing up with your family and drive the thing off beachy head.

That's because ignorant ****ers keep parking in them so we need twice as many to ensure a space.

Actually it's probably because we are the supermarkets target customers.

£50 - 100 in shopping per trip + £20 in the cafe!

With a family? My wife and I spend about £140 a week! And that's not including the friday night takeaway!!!!

Am I doing something wrong? I should get an armed guard at my parking space for the money they make from us....

That's because they live like animals, gorging on high fat foods with "Value" written on them. Eating in the chavster cafe etc etc. Probably buy their lottery tickets at the same time too.

£100 a week isn't enough to keep me in Wine and Champagne never mind foie gras and steak.

Its amazing how experience can change a POV

3 years ago in my Impreza 4 door pride & joy I used to park over the other side of the car park etc, even parked in the mother/baby spaces when vastly underpopulated @9pm.

Present day, now with sprog, use my Impreza 5 door family runaround (my Westy is now P&J ) and use the mother/baby spaces all the time (when with baby).

The things I have seen in the M&B spaces - DO NOT GO THERE, it may seem that 4-6 foot either side of your car is a good thing, believe me it isn't - get over the other side of the carpark NOW!

BTW it is justifiable to have M&B spaces, and as near the entrance as poss - it keeps all the 5 year olds who want to push a 50kg battering ram away from all the other cars

that's the only argument in favour I've heard with any logic in it. I think I might be changing my stance on mother and brat spaces.

messiah,

Getting a disabled badge is not clear cut. My mother is registered disabled and receives DLA (Disability Living alowance). She has good days and bad days, the bad days are really bad (unable to walk further than 5m, can't move arms above head, etc.) and the good days she can walk for about 10 minutes before she starts feeling pain.

messiah
You are not entitled to the disabled space but you are entitled to the baby space

Next time I go shopping with the kids I am looking forward to going to the far end and parking nice and close to NACRO's isolated Scooby. Then enjoy as the boys smash his doors in with the nice and heavy Volvo doors. Then maybe park elsewhere so he cant take any valuble bits off the car (not that there are many) or slash the tyres.

Shame NACRO's parents were so selfless and chose to have a kid.

Hey moron, I don't take my Impreza to the supermarket, let alone my pride and joy and as you don't know what my car looks like or who I am, I'd like to suggest that you'd be more likely smashing up the car of some mug who like you has ruined his life by having children.

You're absolutely right, my litt'un is only 4 months so I'm OK on that score, however I cannot police other parents whilst inside doing my shopping - its the ones that don't give a toss that are the problem, and even then I'll guarentee the responsible parents that do value other car owners and discipline their kids accordingly will have the odd bad day at the office

DON'T GO THERE, I only use them because I can't guarentee putting the baby carrier into the car without knocking the door into a parked car 1-2 foot away from mine - i.e. in usual car park spaces - in the M&B ones its fine as there is enough room to fully open the door. AND you need a FULLY open door with a 0-9 month baby carrier, trust me on this.

Put it this way, if I wasn't conciensious about other people's cars I wouldn't park in the M&B spaces either, child or not. I hope that makes sense

You do that and book the ferry, then you'll need to drive down to a certain carrefour in deepest darkest southern france. Then you can wait for a few months until I actually need to visit one of those places, then you can do your door banging you artless pr1ck.

I didn't say people with kids are jealous of those without either, just that those who aren't blighted have more money, more time and more ability to be spontaneous. All things I prize higher than passing on genetic material.

NACRO you need to chill out. Try giving instead of taking and maybe the bitterness will disapate some.

Maybe try giving up your seat to a needy elderly or a mother and baby and you might get a warm fuzzy feeling (that'll be either the elderly losing bowel control or the baby puking on you)

Seriously though, all that bittereness isn't good for you mate

Funny how I think only a couple touched on the subject of space required although it was in reference to mother and toddler spaces.

Most focused on the "can't walk far" element.

I doubt any of you have experience of trying to park anywhere where you *need*, not want, a space wide enough to open the car door fully to access and exit a wheelchair.

It has nothing to do with how far you can walk because in a lot of cases you can't walk full stop. It has everything to do with just being able to do what everybody else takes for granted at a supermarket/stores and that's shop.

Without anywhere big enough to park you have to keep moving around to different shops where you can or alternatively wait for a space to become available.

How many people here would be prepared to do that?

I reckon I have the answer.

Obviously all the people moaning do not have disabled relative or are disabled themselves or have children. The government deems who is valid for a blue badge whether you think they are fine or not its not your opinion that counts its the doctor that diagnoses them. My father has spondolitis (his spine is slowly disintigrating) and he can be fine for a year then all of a sudden I get a phonecall and hes lying on the floor an cant get up. As for parent & baby parking as mentioned they are there to give more access to the cars for getting child seats in and out. It makes me laugh when I go shopping and everyone is trying to get as close as possible when theres loads of spaces at the far end of the car park. Instead of judging and saying you should get a special place for your pride and joy do what the rest of us do with ours and park further away you lazy b*****ds

the figures for disabled people are something like 1 in 8 are disabled. So those of you who think there are to many spaces, next time you go shopping have a look at how many people there are. Now if 1 in 8 is disabled are there still too many spaces ?? (assuming you are shopping at a decent hour of course.) Ignorance & selfishness is all that is too blame for parking where, whether en-forceable or not, you are not entitled to. Those who have / know disabled people understand, those that don't well think about being in a wheelchair on a windy day, when it's raining as well and having to park away from the store entrance because ignorance stops you from parking closer ?

I see this arguement is going to go on and on and won't ever stop. So that's me and my last input.
