As a point of reference, u can always go into any branch of Fortress, Broadway, Chung Yuen, or Tailin Radio to check out the rrp of the stuff u want to buy. Those are all chainstores that usually sell at rrp & have prices clearly labelled. U can then compare prices with smaller shops to make sure u're not ripped off. U can always try out all the functions of the stuff u want at those shops, & buy elsewhere. It doesn't hurt to try bargaining in those 'Hong Kong Dixons', as I've had discounts from them b4 by bargaining.
Btw, I'm not sure whether it'll work, but credit card companies here have agreements with retailers, so that particular cardholders will get special or year round discounts in particular shops (usually 5-15% off regular prices). If u have HSBC/Citibank/AE credit cards, u may get some discounts in some shops.

B4, if you need any info or recommendations on Kuala Lumpur, do email me. Accomodation and food will be especially cheap for those from the Euro zone, and if you are after fake goods, e.g. watches, software, DVD's, designer labels etc, this is the place to be. There is always the Sepang F1 circuit near the airport, but unfortunately, I have not been to a track day there yet with my Scoob. Can do it on the expressway instead, lol.
I also second your recommendation of Spring Deer Restaurant. It is on Mody Road in Tsim Sha Tsui , Kowloon. Serves authentic Chinese provincial dishes, especially the minced beef with baked buns. Reservation is a must at that place, it is always packed, and they will only hold for 15 minutes. One word of caution on dining Chinese in Hong Kong. Stay away from exotic stuff like shark fin, abalone, birds nest, live seafood (lobster, garoupa) as they will cost you an arm and a leg at the higher end places, definitely not your typical Chinese take-away joints. That still leaves you plenty of other stuff to order, e.g. suckling pig, peking duck, pigeon, roast goose, beef, venison (deer meat), snakes, wild games etc.
If you do stay in the higher end hotels like Penisular, Regent, New World etc, splash on their hotel limo service. A fleet of the latest Rolls, Daimlers, Mercs and Jags will take you from the airport and back, a treat for the honeymooners, otherwise take the train like everyone else.

As Clarence says, bring all your credit cards with you just in case there's a deal offered with one particular card issuer. Applies to restaurants, too.
Drop an email to stiracing.com as the guy who runs it is based in HK. Sure he could give you some up to date info.
I think there's some kind of laser show viewable from the harbour at Tsim Sha Tsui, involving the skyscrapers on HK side. Nightly at 8.15pm, or something like that.
For tailored clothes try that place on the mainland, just a short journey from HK. Shen zen? Something like that. Basically, it takes you across the border into China proper, which is quite different from HK. Supposed to be a great place for decent, but cheap, made to measure kit. You'll need a visa, but should be able to sort it easily from HK.
Nice place, HK. I might be there myself that week.
Oh, and one last bit of useless info. Subaru in Chinese translates directly as 'man with broom', lol.

Yes, just had chicken tonite.
The ban on live poultry has been lifted, but still no live ducks or geese. So no roast duck I'm afraid, not even in Yung Kee.

If u want to visit the mainland, then u'll have to get a visa from China Travel Services. They can speed up the process if u're prepared to pay more (express visa). Be very careful when u're in Shenzhen, there are a lot of scams that target foreigners (including HK natives), & the city is crime ridden. Try to do a day trip & rtn to HK b4 dark.
Btw, the Subaru showroom in Wanchai have just reopened after renovation. U can always go in & kick some tyres.

Some good deals over there - got an iPod 20gb for GBP185, reduced from GBP220 cos I didn't want the remote, dock or case. Camcorders are cheap, too. Sony IP1E was in the shops for GBP700.
Cool place. Cheap to visit (food, getting around, shopping, etc). Very impressive how the whole place runs so smoothly when you consider the small space/dense population. Public transportation is very impressive - airport express train service runs right into the central area and is very user friendly, with check in facilities and nice shopping mall, restaurants, etc.
Best buy out there has to be prescription glasses. Any spec wearers should stock up. And they do them in a day - superb customer service which is pretty much the case everywhere in HK.
