Less of the 'old gits' bit Al.... Although I'm sure I could smell Complan in that LOTR envelope....

Now I'm thinking...

Al, as spiritual leader you will be pleased to know that I'm in the process of producing a 'Boss special' version which measures 2'6" across, would look lovely on yer roof, doors, windscreen?

I'll knock up a prototype within the next couple of days, and pass it around for final opinions at the karting.

Is everyone okay with the tax disc type size (4" diameter 'ish')?

What about the blue background? All happy with that?

Sticky

'Boss special' on the roof?.. wouldn't be long before some wag commented about my secretly wanting a 'Mini Cooper'

Your challenge is to make a sticker that fits over my dents to make them disapear.. proper coloured matched of course, not like the last Stevie Wonder that did my other door..

Is a tax disk 4" ? My missus is lucky...

Colours look spot on too .. Don't suppose your drawing package has 'Sonic Blue'?

I vote for world rally blue! Seriously though - spot on Sticky.

Now, what about some paper flyers for sticking under windscreen wipers?

Chris,

I'm looking at doing 250 free business cards at @ www.vistaprint.com

I go some for my missus and they are pukka cards with the Vistaprint website on the back. Good quality too.

For about $10 delivered (yes $) you can upload a picture and alter the text etc..

I had all my business cards done here.. bloody cheap and spot on..

If they're free, there's no probs in handing them out...

Just checked back and it will cost about $28 dollars to send them edited with Sticky's logo and some text for the meet etc... Price has gone up a little..

The normal 'Free' ones are still OK.. but you can't do anything to them apart from have the simple card design and standard business card text...

Mmm..

Maybe it's time for us all to dip into our pockets for a few pence?? As this sort of thing is for the general promotion of the club, we should all share the financial burden.

Chris, that thought had crossed my mind for Phil and the site... I think it's only £75 ish for a decent server and full bandwidth... more discussion needed.

But I agree that people shouldn't be out of pocket (as with Dave and the fun day)..

I am happy to pay the £20 for the cards, but I'd need to know if they'd be used rather than just left around.. plus you couldn't personalise them... I would have liked the option to put our names and other details on...

But for £20 ish, Sticky may have something as good with his new machine...

Better...
And it won't be £20...

Much more expensive than that

We do need to discuss stuff like this and the web hosting issue. Perhaps it's time to address the issue of forming some kind of (semi) official group with it's own bank account, treasurer, etc. and collecting modest subs. If the hosting's £75 or so then that's less than a fiver each (18 current members). I'd be up for it (paying, that is. Don't want to be treasurer, I'd spend it all on Evo parts )

Item 1 on the agenda at post-karting pub time. Al, get ready to take notes / minutes.

Getting all official, init?

Al - you're right, we need some contributions to things like stickers, hosting costs etc, where members would otherwise be out of pocket. The same applies to Dave's losses on the track day.

Otherwise, we'll end up with certain members who are operating at a loss, for the good of the overall community. Which ain't fair.

Sticky - shame, I was going to nominate you as treasurer and club debt collector (after all, you've got the motor for it ).....

Argh.... Bl**dy WYIOC forum is down.....

This is what I was going to say:-

Al - As mentioned on ScoobyNet, I'm definitely in favour of some sort of subscription model, so that those good folk that have paid out for the greater good of the club are reimbursed for their materials and disbursements. Time costing is a separate issue, and I would hope that we all see it in our nature to contribute our time and expertise in specific areas without direct financial recompense.

As the club inevitably grows, the need for a formal committee is increased. I think that it's wise for the posts of Chair, Events Sec and Treasurer to be restricted to fully paid up (and therefore trusted) menbers of the club. Otherwise, there is always the inherent question of accountability. This means that the mechanism governing these appointments and (in particular) the financial responsibilities will have to be carefully devised.

What we don't want is a situation where one person is entrusted with significant funds from subscriptions and ad hoc contributions, and then squanders these monies without the authority of the club & committee.

In terms of the amount to pitch the membership subs at, well that's the $64,000 question (although that figure might put us all off....!). If we said somewhere between £25 and £50 pa, with extra fees for specific events such as track days, how would everyone feel about this?

I have to stress that my thoughts on this sum are purely based on what I think our good (or not so good LOL!) members will pay, rather than on a scientific assessment of the likely costs incurred in running a club such as this.

With this in mind, I suggest that we all post with a figure that we'd be happy to put our name to. Then let's see what the projected total funds received would be in the year, and extrapolate what can be achieved from there.....

Cheers, Chris.
