I agree DW but there are an awfull lot out there which have been thrown in and they suffer accordingly.

If your gonna buy one buy one which has been professionally moded or done by yourself ... then you know you havent cut any corners etc

I have one, they are cool! I agree there are good and bad ones. There are lots of well spec'd205's out there, just coz it has an mi16 in it, doesnt mean its top dog etc. Other things 'needed' are upgraded brakes, suspension etc

Here's mine

Sean

Looks good mate ....... do you need the strut brace with the cage? I would have thought you would get the stability without it? I had thought about one before but havent bothered coz i have the safety devices cage in....what say you?

I quite like that but its a little hardcore for me as an everyday car to be honest.

I bet it would be some fun on track though.

I'm after a 205 myself but can't fathom out how on earth do you sign up to the board? All I get is 'this board is not accepting registrations...' Any pointers?

Cool another mi16

I have just about finished converting a 205gti to a mi16 (1.9 alloy block).
It has been totally stripped to the same spec as my rallycross car which should give a very, very good power to weight ratio. I will post up some pics and details once i have finished it.

With regards the previous post about the manifold, i have used a angled spacer to tilt the manifold more down to clear the bulkhead.

Coming to a track near you soon...

Mi's are great .... well at least I think they are. Everone keeps telling me they are........but whenever I go on the track they either talk about needing sump baffles coz its too twisty or they dont get there coz they have broken down

Give me a good old fashioned bomb proof 1.9 8V with minor mods, a good suspension set up and tyre choice .... oh and someone who can drive it helps alot too ....

Flame suit on and prepares for deluge of race offers ...lol

Hi,

I have just enabled new users on 205 GTi Drivers

We had a major crash a few months ago and disabled every extra feature and slowly being enabling one at a time to check for stability, as this is not the first time we have had a major unexplained crash (it kills the mySQL server).

Just im the middle of buying 2 205 gti's for a project, the lad im buying them off bought them to do 1 good one. One as a good engine and is on a F-reg and is a 1.9 gti with a supercharger fitted, still running but the car is a dog, the other is a g-reg 1.6 gti with very good interior and the car is a very good example only done 106k but the engine is dead. Im just in the middle of stripping them both down and rebuilding the good one.

Join the club Darren, my Mi16 has blown so I'm in the process of pulling it out to rebuild. But first I have to flag and fence a 12 x 15' area at my dads to make some room Oh to have a garage

Someone posted some movies of their 205 project in various stages down to totally stripped out the other day in here, he had his own little website - bless. Very good vids, looked very rapid and loads of grip, was catching up 968's and Elise's etc.

I'm I right in thinking to own a 205 M16 with the alloy 1.9 or the later block would be better if you're at least a little bit handy with a spanner so to speak. I doubt you're going to get Pug dealers to work on it!?

Hmmm, the alloy block would prolly save somethng in the region of
25 - 30kg (and is what we run) but it depends how far you want to go ...
The steel one, in theory, would be stronger if you want to go down the
turbo route and maybe better for boring out ...

May also be worth pointing out that the torque characteristics appear to
be quite different with the steel block one giving peak torque lower down
the rev range.

... could be worth taking a look here :

http://www.hiflowheads.co.uk/

All that said, a good rebuilt MI in a 205 with a good rear beam, reasonable
suspension, LSD and good tyres is a whole heap of fun

Cheers

Adam
