It's not meant to be easy is it?
The 262's reserved for 30 knots+ anyway...... I'll have to get a little practice in on it I suppose, but I'm certainly not ditching the freestyle board Just need to go fast That said, I'll not be going anywhere just yet, as the inside of the fin's not lined up with the bolt, so I'll have to un-sieze it and make an alteration

Went out earlier at West K... gusty as ****, between 11 and 28 knots Proper **** that was

That was my intention as well.... seems you got the better wind down there As it was, I got about half an hour, and that was **** as well

You want a formula board Go and plane up and down in 9 knots on a 14 metre sail... Only thing is, I think I'd get tired of just belting up and down faster than anyone else Need a bit of the backwards stuff to keep me amused

Could do with a low for next weekend - the Kangaroo Poo speed event at West Kirby http://ukwindsurfing.com/news/2005/0811_144/ running on Sat and Sun. I'm working the first day, but I'll be there on Sunday, if anyone's got nothing to do More info on here - http://www.iwindsurf.co.uk/modules.p...c&topic=1346&9

I'll be running me Copello if there's more than 25 knots or so 45'd be better like, then we'd break a few records..... That'd do me nicely.

Is the s-type the new freestyle board, or is it the supercross one? I know those supercross ones get a very good report, but perhaps not so much for waves? Dunno really.... I'd get one though

S-type is the fast/supercross one. Flare is the new f/style one I think.

I'm currently on a one board quiver - a Jp wave 84, circa 2002 I think. Generally if it's sub 5.7/84ltr weather, I don't bother. Or I just go to my local lake (datchet) and use the hire kit.

Technically I have a 295 copello redline too, but I still can't sail it, and rarely bother. It requires nearly as much wind as the wave board to get going (doesn't like being underpowered) Feels as fast as you like, truly scary, but then the GPS reckons I'm going quicker on the waveboard

Downside is I'm working abroad these days, and it's *never* windy at the weekend. Appart from this weekend most likely, as I've got to work the weekend

The wind's not looking too hot up here for the speed weekend Someone clocked 25 knots today, but he sails a formula board with a 10 metre sail or so, which doesn't count

Tomorrow's looking slightly better but I'm not convinced yet..... We've got force 8 forecast in the Irish Sea, but whether it'll get us in here is a different matter We shall see

Still haven't gone on me Copello.... Or used me new 4.5 for that matter

It did - about 50-80 mph in fact, but I was not windsurfing I climbed a few munroes instead, and caught the full force of it the last 2 days at the mountain tops

Probably would have been too much anyway 40 or 50 knots is perhaps doable, if a little windy, but maybe not 80.... A force 12 according to my chart

As always, when I go away, the wind blows at west kirby, just as it did during the week

Well, yeah, came home for the weekend, forecast looking good..

Got up early on sat.. just packing the car, brother calls: "you know you wanted to know when we were getting back... well, I'm at heathrow now.." (bang goes the early start)..

Got to the coast 1ish, looking a bit iffy, so I thinks I'll try the new 6.2 on the wave board - bit big, bought for the freestyle board, when I get around to buying one. Walking out to the beach, I loose it in a gust, wrap it round a beach hut, and create a big hole. Doh!

Rigged my 5.7, had a cr*p time - only planed when the front came through.. then got marooned miles out as the wind dropped, so light I couldn't even fly the sail, let alone waterstart. Had to swim the lot back.. then lost my car key!

Wish I'd stayed in bed...

As always, I went away for a few more days after being in Scotland, and the bleedin' wind comes back to west K About 35 knots, and I missed it once again How the hell does it work? Only blows when I'm not there to sample it

What are mittens like to sail in? I've never used 'em tbh - last year I sailed right through until Feb/March when I was off the water for a month or so, and although it was slightly nippy, it never seemed too bad Perhaps the water's colder down there

I've just ordered a thin layer as well. Helly Hansen one, which is not neporene, but some other stuff with a fleece-type lining, which seems ok. Look at the Neil Pryde undersuits definately, as if the wetsuits are anything to go by, they'll be spot on

I have 2 pairs of neoprene gloves - thin and thick. Both fail to keep my hands warm, thin ones are ok, but the thick ones lead to forearm cramp, it's really much harder to hang on to the boom.

Sailed witterings on sunday, bang on shore and a punishing amount of white water.. this was taken about 15 minutes after i'd come ashore and de-rigged. Tide was travelling left to right at quite a lick, and I wasn't fancying being plastered against one of those groynes. Most were on 4m, smallest I had was a 4.7 - survived, but only just. Completely broken today. Anyone else make it out? (P.S. Tha's not me..)

4.3 with lots of downhaul would have been bang on the money. Would have been a better direction at pagham too.. but we didn't realise how southerly it was until we got to wittering.. and so far it's 2-1 to the pagham shorebreak.. it's the only place I've ever been and completely failed to leave the beach
