Also, does anyone know if i need a 3 port boost solenoid, without looking at my car i'm not sure what ive got - how can you tell (i know where it is, just not sure which one it is).

Details for the BRD/TEK3 Install

BRD can offer the TEK3 for £500+ VAT including installation and mapping. This is considerable saving on the RRP. The Group buy is likely to take place in June Pending on how much interest there is.

You won't need to enter the groupbuy if you already have a tek1. With you already having a licence you would need to go direct.

How do i find out if i need the 3 port boost solenoid or if my car already has one? I am gonna put my name down for this but dont fancy paying another £150 on top of £600 already,its a lot of cash. What about a group buy on 3 port boost solenoids

 

I'm yet to see a 3 port solenoid, so I cant tell you what a 3 port solenoid looks like.

But, if you follow the boost hose from the T that goes between the compressor outlet and the wastegate actuator then it will lead you to the wastegate solenoid. On a 2 port solenoid this connects to the bottom with another hose coming off at a right angle going back to the air intake just past the MAF. I'd assume a 3 port solenoid either has another going in or coming out.

IIRC MY99/00's had 2 port solenoids as standard.

Also you don't actually need a 3 port solenoid. My understanding is that the boost is more controllable with a 3 port solenoid. I think transalated into real terms this will mean that you'll be able to run a slightly higher boost after the remap cos they will have to allow for less overshoot.

 

Cheers mate. I've just found out that 3 port boost solenoids are on the 92-96 cars so i'll supply and fit my own. Count me in

Keep in mind that the mapping on the car is different for each of the solenoid types and the car wont run right if you change it over without the remap.

If you are currently running with a Dawes Device or similar then this wont be a problem. Otherwise I'd suggest fitting the 3 port solenoid the night before, then connect the compressor outlet directly to the wastegate actuator, ie skipping the 'T'. You'll have reduced boost but it will run fine.

I have a two port seleniod on my MY00. I will let BRD change it over for a three port when it goes in for the tek3. It will run better with 3 rather then 2, although it can be mapped ok with two ports. Worth the extra £150 or so.

Depending on the car model year and specification it is possible that some applications will require a 3-port boost solenoid valve (instead of the factory fitted 2-port version) This normally cost £150 inc VAT and fitting and for those in the group who need it, it will cost £130 inc VAT and fitting.

The 3-port boost will be determined if you need it or not from your list of modifications or on the day.
