ive just got back from power station and after getting the geometry/bumpsteer done had a fun drive back down the A48 i cant miss the run

all i can say currymonster is get it booked in i noticed a hell of a difference as soon as i pulled out of the place ...

well impressed with the results from the rolling road too. i came top on BHP/TOURQUE
with 139bhp. scoobyglx was close behind followed closely by S_S_S and with only 18BHP difference between highest/lowest it was any eye opener to see what diff, mods did for the cars

my mates been dying to get on a run with us so i wil txt him now so i might get another one for the list,,,,,,
theres a load of new scoobys around nwport now so i will have to start stoping them and get em on here lol.....

chris have you heard of phaynes??? has he still got his car????

 

If I can make it I will join at j46, where exactly does the run take us to, whats the route and plan of attack for the day

 

Two sayings spring to mind:
"Too many cooks spoil the broth"
and
"Quality not quantity".

If numbers become too high it risks becoming more of a procession rather than a "run". Also do you think the bizzies may start taking more of an interest if they think 50 nutters (in the eyes of Joe and Hilda Public that is) are about to blast across the principality? Or am I being a paranoid and boring old phartt?

 

I think a little from column A, a little from column B!!!
A good point but there is no reason that a bit of a more cautious approach is not a good thing in some cases. It also allows for different groups, say for those that want to go *****-out, and for those who prefer to have a more relaxed approach to it all.

Those who know the roads often can drive faster than those who don't, although this isn't always the case.
Also, I don't think the old bill will give a **** about 50 cars speeding in the middle of nowhere when they can catch 2000 on the motorway!!! Also, since they have no idea of the route, how can they plan ahead for it??

I think it is a good point, but perhaps a little over cautios IMHO.
Just enjoy the day, I'm sure there will be chances for speed as well as times when a nice cruise is in order.

 

I don't think so, getting 50 scoobies across 200 miles without anyone getting lost is a major feat. Getting 10 cars from A to B has caused problems in the past. Do it in 1 group and you attract a lot of attention, ecspecially 50 cars doing a U turn. Splitting into several groups has its drawbacks, you need a leader for each group who's familiar with the route. Preferably people who have been on a reccie as this run has a it's one thing fining 2000 people on the motorway (bad press) but imagine if they banned 50 for racing on the public highway I know we don't race but they may not see it that way.

MWR11 will have speed cameras and mobile units at the standby.

With these numbers we would probably be better off organising a meet or hiring Llandow race track for the day.

a speed event, held legally, on private land (tarmac) for subaru`s only in mid wales. who`s up for that??

Are you thinking about Pontrhydfendigaid? Dilwyn Williams & Non Jones have their tarmac stage there and they won best new business in Wales last year. Definately worth looking into.

seriously though, i think we could have a great day`s fun, without upseting mid wales locals, and improving the dyfed powys/south wales police bank balance... because 50 subaru`s on some of wales most famous weekend routes.... thats worth sending a helicopter out for. sorry to be a killjoy, but fact of life.

i will put money where my mouth is and put up £100 and a trophy
for the quickest car of the day.
i suggert a hill climb type of event ie: the fastest to the top of the hill.
i have already contacted dilwyn and we are looking for a date in august
on a sunday and camp out there on saturday with a barbeque
i will need 50 plus cars to take part.
and i will start a new thread when we have enough interest.

A friend of mine has just picked up his new WRX so as long as he has hit the 1000 mile mark by the 4th he should e up for it as well - does anyone know if there is any 'offical' rallying on that weekend??

 

my mate said hes a yes and he might have 2-3 mates that would come to
also i aske a guy that works in a motorfactors in newport and he recons he can get 5-6 scoobys to come with us but im not gunna hold my breath on the last group though !!!
