From: Bromley, Kent . Car: MY06 STi (WR Blue)
Default Speed Signal Wire 06 STi (for Sat Nav etc.)

There is a socket with two wires, behind the radio.

It was taped to the lead feeding the radio

Green/Yellow - Speed Signal
Brown/Yellow - not identified (possibly reverse or handbrake connection)

I have read that this connector is present on 04 & 05 impreza's as well, much easier than finding the right pin on the ECU or speedo pod

Default Front speaker adaptor

Just thought that i'd let you know how i fitted my 13cm front speakers into my new age scooby. Instead of doing the Handy Andy with MDF, I decided to cut out the cones and magnet of the original speakers and use the remaining frame! 4 short self tappers and voila!!
I will admit that from behind it doesn't look pretty (you can't see it anyway). From the front it looks pretty good and it works a treat. I also used the original plug from the speaker after soldering some insulated wires between the plug and the new speaker.
The metal frame is really soft, so a pair of side cutters can be used to cut / twist the magnet's frame out (obviously a hacksaw would be preferable).
I know this sounds a bit nasty, but it does work and costs nothing to do.

I was looking for your great instructions on 01 wrx stereo removal - and as escott says - your site has gone it just says "free space" HELP!

Default Handbrake cable for DVD head units.

I connected mine to a discreet switch by the handbrake so I can have the display on or off when I want it. The switch is a push button latching type from Maplin and fitted to one of the existing blanking plates on the centre console. The wire runs back to the stereo and is connected to the metal bracket that holds the head unit into the chassis, but the bracket must be earthed using the black wire with the spade connector.

Maplin > Locking Push Switch

(I bought the black one)

maybe its already on here somewhere, but a picture and wire guideline diagram for any age scooby radio wiring loom? for all the people out there who thought theyll save a few quid buying A cheap stereo or tv on ebay...which has the wires at the back cut...lol yes i made that mistake, bought a bloody cheap motorised tv/dvd player for my classic, the wires were cut to my shock when i opened the box....but my friend searched for a bit somewhere and managed to print up a large color picture of the connector from a classic, including a diagram for what each wire is and does, and in about an hour id managed to rewire the tv perfectly and tidily to an old connector, and it worked perfectly. (so now i have a tv/dvd player which i dont use, and will only fit into a scooby unless someone rewires it for another car) Although since then i have bought a new touch-screen pioneer one....plugged into a nice iso connecter from halfords, lol. oh well maybe an idea, if anyone needs to pretty much make a diy iso connector for a dodgily wired stereo. will try n get hold of the pictures and diagrams to put up

Ash

All i'm trying to find out is what size the speakers are in the front and rear of my 2003 '03' wrx to save me taking off all the door cards!

anyone know?
