Now pardon my ignorance here. I know that we have given our model numbers and MY etc but when I got a Forge DV I ended up with one that went straight on to the intercooler. Mine however required a fitting kit and I had to send it back even though it said it was for 93-2000 Impreza's.

These ones dont just bolt on as well do they?

 

Help me out if I get this wrong guy's but as I'm aware from about 98-00 they bolt to the intercooler and before then they attach to one of the pipes. The HKS Dump Valves are all the same? But will come with different fitting kits deppending on whether it fits to intercooler or not, hence the model year.

I may not have put that very well!

Spot on Bondy

97-98 the hose goes onto the intercooler, then the dump valve goes onto the hose.
99-00 the dump valve goes onto the intercooler then the hose goes onto the dump valve.
93-96 are different again.
All will require different fitting kit's which the supplier has said he will supply with the HKS SSQV's

 

Yes, the HKSSSQV fitting kits are vehicle specific kits that allow for integration of the SSQV units into standard turbo and intercooler assemblies. These kits include all the necessary mounting brackets, mounting flanges and piping for your Impreza as you are ordering the vehicle specific bov’s.

So that's why everyone had to confirm their vehicle type and year.

The HKS SSQV incorporates a small primary valve for ultra quick activation and a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The HKS opens the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions, then sequentially opens the secondary and larger valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions.

For gimmicks, the Blitz BOV has interchangeable trumpets for different sounds. The HKS is for performance....loud and scary

You can get different inserts for the SSQV too can't you?

Comes with a silver pointy vain and you can get a gold pointy one and a purple circle type pointy one.

On my old GTIR on light throttle I got more of a flutter like the old SQV (smaller valve open) and then when pressing on it gave a more prolonged whoosh noise.

They also have a little not on the back which alters the pressure at which (IIRC) the larger valve opens and hence alters the noise and length of the dump.

you're right Eddscott, those inserts were posted in one of Scoty's earlier replies as a clicky

1. silver insert that comes with the SSQV produces a powerful and aggressive 'swoooosh'.
2. gold insert produces a standard high frequency 'swoooosh'
3. purple insert produces a lower frequency 'swooooosh'.

The SSQV inserts are easily interchangeable.
