borich - do you have a boost gauge? if so are you still making the same boost as before? Not a mechanic but do the usual check for leaks around valve and check jubilee clips around the bung and valve.

Pop the bonnet and pull the throttle linkage with one hand and put the palm of the other over the valve and feel the air coming out. I'm running about 15ish PSI and with a healthy tweak of the linkage theres quite a rush of air that comes out.

This SSQV sounds a bit different to the one I had on my GTIR btw. My scoob has a more defined dump (twee!) whereas with the GTIR it tended to flutter a little bit like the old SQV - guess thats tweaking the nut on the back.

Weird!

Can't understand the problems you are experiencing.... I bought one from this group buy and i can honestly say it is the loadest BOV i've ever heard! (even with stereo at full chat I can still hear it!)

I would suggest you re-check your installation for leaks....

With regard to the bolt on the back... you should really (unless you must!) not muck about with it.... it is factory set and should only be tweaked if you have significantly modified your vehicle in such a way that you want the BOV to operate at lower or higher pressures... it is *not* a volume control!

Let us know how you get on.. and whether you fix it or you've just got a Friday afternoon BOV?

I guess so quite hard to hear it over the pops and bangs. Best way to tell is drive through your local high street in 1st and give it some revs and take your foot off when you've built up some boost.

If people turn round its OK

"I'd walk in t'urinal and 'eads would turn - ala League of Gentleman.

/edit - how come the EVO pops and bangs? what makes it do that and can I have it?

OMG - just fitted the SSQV - I love it and apart from the superb sound it makes it has improved the Lag in between gear change. Talk about scaring old ladies from 100 yards if its not the Dump ing sound then the pops are sure to give em all a heart attack

The fitting only took 15 mins and Borich mine sounds like the one in the wmv file you posted up

I just can't stop smiling - Big thank you to Scoty for organising this Group Buy and to Simon for coming up with the goods without delay - spot on job guys - thank you

Well My Scoob is a MY00WRS with PPP - running full Decat and Afterburner Vortex BackBox. Funny as **** earlier having driven the Scoob pretty hard for a few minutes I was cruising back into town and literally everytime I put my foot down upto 3K rpm and released the throttle POP - got it every time I did this for a good few miles until the exhuast had cooled and then got the pop now and then......the missus could hear me coming from the other side of the estate - the SSQV is loud altho' she says she could hear the pops above all else

Good to hear that Johnny - the ssqv really is a quality piece of kit - arrived to work this morning with a huge grin on my face......is it fair to scare kids with whooshing and popping first thing in the morning tho' I think so

Hi,

For anyone who hasn't received their dumper yet...please give it another day or two and it will turn up. The post office says 8-11 days but when they get delivered earlier it's a bonus.

sorry...

Hey guys, think i have found the solution to the people who are not happy with their sounds.

This link below shows the different FINS available for our dump valves to change the pressure release noise from one extreme to the next.

Thoughts anyone

OK guys, no need to panic. This is a quote from HKS

The HKS SSQV silver triple-fin discharge design produces a powerful and unique aggressive blow-off sound along with added visual distinction. Additional triple-fin inserts are available in gold (standard high frequency sound) for visual appeal and in purple metallic (emits a lower frequency sound than both the standard and gold SSBV inserts) for an alternate sound and appearance. SSQV inserts are easily interchangeable within minutes.

GOLD is the loudest and can be bought through a dealer. I've asked Simon to try and source

Even got a couple of pops and bangs (always a good thing )

Once again Thanks Scotty and Simon

Great mine came this morning. Now I've had a quick look at the fitting kit and the DV but cant see any additional inserts. The one thats in and is already fitted as standard looks to be the purple one.

Should they came with additional inserts and if not is the purple the quietest?
