No more TypeR for me!
Well, my TypeR ownership has ended after 3years
But I do still have a variable centre Diff
If only they had continued making 2 door cars..
This has been a good thread, and it wont be long before its gets 100,000 hits!
But I do think that someone needs to start a TypeR owners club!!!

i couldnt agree more, lets keep this thread running, there must be tons more type R's out there, where are all the folk that have rung me looking to buy mine, but bought blue ones instead????
i would be honoured to join a Type R owners club.

you will most probably find that they are meant to lower a WRX by 30mm,the STI must already have a lower stance,by the way i used APEX-i on mine, check out the pics a few pages back

just picked my sti v4 type R up tonight, had a good couple of hours out in it and i have to say.....wow!
the car just feels so nimble and it changes direction so much better than my 4 door one did.
it just doesn't have the power of my old car but that is something that can be sorted

I saw on the Japan STi site, that this suspension was classed as 'spec C', this was of course for the MY00 and before the Spec C car available now.

Now you know why I went newage.
Regards an owners club, I alway felt we lost out a bit at big meets. The RB5's would all park together as would the P1's but we all seemed to scatter about.
It just wants a boy of organisation at every meet to get all the cars together and then it will become automatic.

My old R had fantastic handling as the previous owner spend lots of mony setting it up for the Nurburgring. It had ledas, APS and uprated bushes all round. The times I have taken it on the track it was very good and I just got used to that.
The new car is standard JDM STI9 suspension with upper and lower strutbraces. Its good, but not as good. Hopefully some new drop links, bushes, ALK and rollbars will sort it out.
Drivetrain wise the Autodiff is quite nice, although you can feel the front and rear diffs 'bunny hop' on some low speed tight corners. And of course when driven hard you get that dirty sock smell from the centre diff
