working in the solvents industry i would recommend you use spirits of turpentine also known as genuine turps, it should get it off after a good soaking, its what the trade use to thin gloss paint, white spirit is pants mate and only good for cleaning brushes. if you are near a robert dyas shop they sell it but it must be Genuine turpentine, it stinks to high heaven, may do the trick?? also i hear diesel is good.

We use a product called paint shop wipes as the name suggest it removes paint & we us it on primers too. I have a tub usually about £25 but to a fellow scooby owner free to ya. I can meet you if you want to. Worth a try before you spend money on owt else !!

celolose thinners m8 done it before the laquer is much harder than the gloss so it will come off 1st..........be careful though if the laquer starts 2 feel sticky stop at once and do another erea[might look alittle dull after but a cut and polish ull never know it happned[only in worst possible cenario though]

 

try gently heating it mate,If its still pretty fresh it may sofan it up and wash away!

Get in touch with a Graffiti removal firm, the coucil use them all the time up here. They have different chemicals for different paints, and the always get it off, bus stops, walls, advertising hoardings etc. Worth a try......

t-cut

simple mate i work in the refinishing industry and if you get a dry cloth put some t cut on it and start to rub the paint agressively it will mark the lacquer, seen it a million times.

and then u will need a re lacquer job.

been doing my job 15 years, its was great on the older paints but not the modern stuff.

end of the day its your choice, - my car - never.

note, mer is also a cutting compound but its very mild - read the bottle. safe cut is better than t cut for modern paints.

 

Avoid the nail-varnish remover, m8 - the active component is acetone. It can take ALL your paint off with it!

If you're really, really desperate and think neat acetone is the thing for you, let me know and you're welcome to some - I've got about 50 litres in stock (I'm building a composite aeroplane and it's great for cleaning tools when they're covered in resin).

 

Cel, I live in sheff too, infact we met at the NBO, you met me at barlborough junction remember ??? Any how- I have some Zymol cleaner fluid (like swissol but IMHO better) that is just for car paintwork - If you want to borrow some and try it you are welcome, Im sure it will bring it off fine.

Thinners!
Use it gently and localy and it will come off, should't damage the paint if your carefull... but it will take some patiance...
Try a blue bit under the arch first though...

this may sound stupid but i would try a pressure washer first
faililg that paint over a small bit in blue and before it dries wipe it off and the white should come off with it. it works when you paint your nails

 

I would also recommend calling kev at scoobyclinic - top bloke.

Also where abouts in Sheffield did the egg incident happen. I've had that before on Blackstock Road, Gleadless. It's damaged the paint and now the wethaer's getting under it. Plod said I was lucky it wasn't half a brick! How lucky did I feel?!!!! NOT.

It happened on Chesterfield Road, coming down the hill from Meadowhead Roundabout.

looking at the mess it has made i wish i could have caught one of these little tw@ts. I reckon i would have marched him back to his parents and demanded they pay for the damage [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

Got most of the paint off now thank god, theres still some under the wheel arches, but im not too concerned about that. At least its off the body
