Hybrid FMIC Group Buy

I don't think the guy is dodgy he just doesn't have a very good grasp of English and customer relations. But is that someone we want to buy off? he did say initially he would accept PayPal so we have 2 means to get the money back. Its Harvey's call now not unless something else comes along, he seems to have a good rating on e-bay if I recall....

I take the price to be HK$ 79,245 and must conclude that it includes air freight for 15 no. from the limitted info provided.
I need to clarify with the potential supplier and also a fuller explanation of "chrome....3 layer silicone"
I am not prepared to T.T. signifigant funds to someone I do not know and nobody I know has dealt with in the past. So we need to find a more equitable solution and I will put that to the potential supplier in an e-mail later today.
I hope we can have this tied up by Monday night an proceed with our original schedule. Alternatively, we seek some other supplier.
PS: Never ever ever been on e-bay so its nice to know they think I am a good guy too!!!!

Harvey,
I think Steve has hit the nail on the head, regarding grasp of the English language.
I orginally thought they where an Australian company but now we know they are based in Hong Kong, which explain some of the poor responses to our E-mails.
I would be tempted to push the secure payment and if not then walk away.
The Chrome and 3 layer Silicone refers to the alloy/chrome pipes being joined in a number of places by silicone hoses. This my view having looked at the recent pictures again.

Oh by the way a supplier we've used previously has Greddy intercoolers for £490 in a sale, but supply looks limited to @ 5

Hi guys,
I followed to this Link from someone who posted a question on a Melbourne, Australia based WRX forum to here:
Anyway to answer your question, I know that PowerDigger Australia is operated by some Asian people, but what their relationship to Hong Kong (I was born in Hong Kong originally!) I have no idea...
Some people I know have dealt with Power Digger Australia with some success (including myself), but like you would have realised by now.... Customer Support is missing a little, especially since they can jump from Australia to Hong Kong based operation, with totally different names.
I guess that is not to be un-expected, as here in Australia we finally discovered that the Hybrid Intercoolers are actually Made in China, not Australia as P.D. initially led us to believe.
If I'm not wrong, Power Digger is the main distributor of Hybrid products in Australia.
Another place to try source Hybrid coolers is through www.flyn.com.au , which is based in Australia. It probably won't be as cheap though as they source through P.D. as well... but the guy who operates the business is top notch.
Alternatively, I am an Importer/Exporter as well from Japan to Australia and Japan to other countries.
TRUST/GReddy FMIC Kits for GC8 Part No. #12060012:
96/08~ end of GC8 in 2000 - Core TYPE28C H240/L600/W76
TRUST/GReddy FMIC Kits for GDA WRX/GDB STi Part No. #12060020:
2000/10`2002/10 - Core TYPE28C H240/L600/W76
I can do them to UK:
800USD + sea freight shipping (3-4 weeks) = 930USD per kit shipped with insurance if anyone is interested.
Payment is by T/T, being quickest and cheapest, but Paypal also accepted although need to add 3.9% since I'm in Australia, we ship from our office in Shinbashi, Tokyo, Japan to individual addresses. NOTE: your local Tax/Duties might apply, which is buyers own responsibility.. Please be aware of this as we are honest about its possibility. ^_^
If anyone is interested in the GReddy V-SPL kit, a proven solution, (which needs fog lights to be taken out by the way, in all versions WRXs), feel free to contact me.
I'm an honest dealer but I guess its really hard to believe someone who lives in another country (I live in Melbourne, Australia). I trade under name RAVIZZINI on eBay.com.au and have had full 100% Positive Feedback.

Forgot to say that any orders should, make that MUST be placed before end of December, as the Japan Car Scene takes a long holiday from 1st of Jan to about mid-Jan to prepare for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2004, and then all the way to end of Jan or early Feb before all the shops and manufacturers can fulfil the back orders...
Been there, done that.. not a lot of fun in Japan in early Jan when most car shops are closed until mid-Jan!

O.K. Looks like we are making sensible progress and we can get this up and running. I will send another e-mail to iron out some other issues and when I get the response I will post fully but it does look like we may have a satisfactory outcome.
I am also told by my own contact that he has seen one of these kits fitted. He was impressed with quality and fog lights were retained on that particular car.

Hi Harvey, this group buy seems great. May well want in, when is closing date?? Also, would greatly like to hear your view on what these kits are like?? Do they perform, are they equal to the big budget alternatives?? Note, i am enquiring about YOUR view, not a question directed at supplier.
If the answers are all good, will quite possibly be in!!

DXX: The group buy is still open. You asked for my views on the `Hybrid Intercooler`. I know no more about it than you will glean from reading this thread and following the links. It is Bar and Plate and I have not heard anything untoward. It is clearly a budget product and therefore we must accept that it may not fit as easily as some of the more established brands but at half the price of the well known FMICs, I am of the opinion that it could well be worth the effort. Essentially you need a good core that will result in effective cooling of the charge air and from what I can see the Hybrid will meet that criteria. There has been conflicting information about the retention of fog lights (which in my opinion are only of use a few days a year) and I think anyone coming on the group buy has to accept that if the fog lights cannot be retained, well thats life. However, we have an assurance from the supplier that fog lights can be retained and at this stage I have no reason to doubt that.
On my STi 6 Wagon I have an APS Intercooler which I am happy with but from memory that was £1150 imported direct from Australia two years ago. Another Intercooler I have seen that impressed me was the Hyperflow and I have actually spoken with Kevin referred to above. I believe that JW Racing may be the Hyperflow distributor but this group buy is for guys wanting to shell out £520 or some similar figure for a competant FMIC with all taxes paid and delivered to the door. So my personal position is that I am prepared to put up with some hassle to get an intercooler for a `95 MY WRX that I wouldn`t be prepared to spend a £1,000 on.

Gentlemen : Update.
I e-mailed Hong Kong yesterday (Sunday) to clarify final details but still await a response but in fairness Mr Chan said in his e-mail of Saturday that he would be away for three days so effectively we can do nothing until we hear from him.
In the meantime the buy remains open and providing we receive a satisfactory response in the near future we can proceed fairly quickly.
Mr Chan said he could ship to individual addresses for $28 to the UK, pro rata elsewhere. Looking at the size of the packaged kits and bearing in mind the packaging material required it will probably make a lot of sense to go down that route.
I will post as soon as I have further information.
Regards,
Harvey Smith

If I had a crystal ball and could predict currency fluctuations in a couple of weeks time when the money is remitted to H.K then I would not be sat here. You can work it out approximately yourself. 708$-£100 or thereabouts because there will be one bank T.T. shared equally amongst all participants. Will not be much.
Relevant info will be passed to each participant at the appropriate time as the group buy progresses.
