Scooby's V's Cossies

Cool thread!
Glad to see Mike back on here - reminds me of Mike v Stef threads years ago..............
I like my cossie. It looks like a taxi, and has bonnet vents. It's old, a Ford, rusty, and unrefined, but it laps the tracks plenty quick enough for me, and a lot quicker than plenty of scoobies at Trax.
It also has 320 bhp, not 450bhp, and can deliver you from your home to the airport in record time so you don't miss that plane
Driven all models of scoob except Type C and 22B, and loved em to bits....... for a road car.
Now back on topic - Jonny Gav - ****

Some nice cossie's there. Seems to be plenty of cossie's that are quicker than the fastest scoob by a fair margin.
Funny then how none of these showed up at TOTB2?
Did they ALL manage to have something wrong with them on that day?
Damian.

can vouch for cossie above ..rapid as ya like..
dan take it easy the day will prove whats what..
i have owned both and yeh the cossie when modded kicks ***..till it breaks..
had one breifly before my scoob.(4x4 saff,exhaust/dvalve/filter)et.loved it but wouldn't go back..same mods to a scoob..better car..imho
there are some crackin cars out there lets hope we all get to see em do there stuff on the day..
have any off you cossie boys seen the s1 rs turbo built by dj motorsport?? parked in my mates garage at the minute and there is no way i would race that for cash..absolutly f##kin mad..
4x4 cossie running gear plus nitros...in a mk3 escort?????
i am a scoob fan no doubt and my next car will be another one..but think for me the cossie is not even an option for me for the following reasons..
need a daily driver,
hate fixin cars,
its a ford..
BUT i do like em..its turbo charged at the end of the day and absolutly mint to drive in any guise..!
so dan i am with you..put me down versus a standard saff 4x4..and i am confident ....

scoobys beat cossies at every event at TOTB2 and even when a big power car raced a scooby, like the Norris EVO that got beat by a scooby on the handling course
dont think we should race in a straight line anyway, just a handling course, you dont see STIG racing in a straight line to find the fastest cars on top gear.

Dan,
That was at one of the Evo active track days at Snetterton, where they hired in professional race drivers to drive the Focus's. I had just overtaken him and he was not best pleased and was using all his skill (and then some) to keep up (admittedly with a much more powerful car). It was SOOOO funny watching in my rear view mirror the Focus drifting with the effort . With it not being his car, he was also prepared to curb hop through "Russell" etc, where I was not . Howeverever, given that he had a pretty substantial bhp deficit by comparison, he did well to keep up (albeit with my comparitive shonky driving skills )
Martin's car IS a daily driver and is fully taxed, MOT'd and road registered. It is not a rally car (as they only run 300ish bhp )and never was. It was built up by Martin from a brand new shell to be a fun road / track-day car. The fact that it has been timed at 194mph within the confines of Bruntingthorpe AND holds the current caravan towing record is immaterial...
Damian,
And YES as I have mentioned earlier on this post ALL the big boys had teething problems and pulled out just before TOTB, so our team was made up of 50% reserves!

And most of the TOTB2 Subaru field was made up with reserves. its excuses from both parties. There was, and still are some potentially fast Subarus in the making, as with the Cossies.
As for Martins car...it is a bit of a legend in its own right, and everyone knows it is awesomely fast. But most of us here live in the real world, with a smallish budget to modify our cars. Few will compete with his car.
And for those that need nitrous to make their car fast.....some do think it is a form of cheating.
Any challenge between Ford and Subaru should be with totally road legal cars, running pump fuel, no nos, road tyres etc..
Make sure all cars do about 20 runs, then have a head to head shootout....that way anyone using nos will hopefully have run done, and their car will be a lot slower.
People mention 9 and 10 sec cars, dont think there are too many in the UK, but in the US, and Oz, there are a few 9sec Subarus.

i like the pic of the focus rs behind it, ( shown one of them up last night as it happens). the funny thing i find with this thread is that the cossie guys are showing pics of "other" peoples cars and not there own. does it matter it that cars got more power? will that car even be there? probably not. keep the cars to what will be going please then everyone has a better idea of what is going to happen and not "what" could happen.

Well me being me I see Cossie with Reyland decals & a roll cage I put 2 & 2 together & get = 4 !!! Sorry !
As I said befor put me up against the same category modded cossie & I think I will beat it. As I said in an earlyer post the scooby did the 350bhp cossie everytime over 1/4 mile.... might not top end but you don't reach top end speed over 1/4 mile .....
So thats the Escort cossie that did the caravan run.... Seen it on the box before...then they sold the Caravan stating it was the fastest caravan in the world !!
So I have know idea how to organise an event with coverage but people on here do...So is it a go'er ???
Danny

If i'd placed a bet at the bookies on ALL cars being broke down I'd have got more money than winning the biggy on the lottery. lol!!!
I can smell something from you Ford boys and it don't smell too nice.
Truth of it is, handling circuit scoob will have yer and top speed the Skyline's will ar$hole you so you stayed well away from TOTB2. Credit to the Fiesta though, at least he had the guts to go and put in a very impressive showing.

Damian,
I'll treat that with the obvious contempt that it deserves, as it would take more than someone of the likes of you to make me bite .
But just for your information:
Martin Hadland thought he had destroyed his gearbox at Castle Coombe a few weeks before hand (and at £6+k didn't fancy getting a new one just to blow up again).
Sean B (Another 540+bhp car) couldn't get a part for his Skyline gearbox he has fitted to his Cossie.
Kev Sharp destroyed his front prop (twisted like a toilet roll tube ) in qualifying and chickened out of travelling all the way from Scotland to suffer something similar .
Rod Tarry destroyed his clutch (six plate paddles were lasting 500miles!) and couldn't get a twin plate sorted in time.
And mine wasn't finished unuil beginning of September in the end.
So think that proves that no-one was running scared of a few shonky Scoobies .
