call me picky, but on the photo of the block earth you dont appear to have heated the heat-shrink enough, its not bonded to the cable at all. like I said....picky

hi well thats because its not heat schrink, these gold ends come with a plastic sleve, which you are able to slide over the soldered end, as much or as little as you like, all ands are now soldered, and, if you live in lancashire you are welcome to come and see my fitted kit for your self, as you are prob aware pics were of my first attemp, and i have clamped these in a vice and tried to pull the wires through, to no joy, totally safe, thanks for your comment but as i said the pics dont show how strong they really are, regards mark

call me picky i tried one of the diy £15 mod, what a pile of .... hence i built a proper one with better components, and what a totall diff, the cheap and nasty £15 diy mod made no differance at all, but the gold plated, and larger wire, was astonishing, thats on my car any way, but call me picky,

your using the same gauge wire and connectors as the cheaper £15 set, just not 24Kt, and I used a crimper and solder to form the connections........

if your being picky

maplins is very expensive for what they sell.

i couldnt get ant 4 awg wire cheaper, i used 8 awg for the cheaper set, and all the crimped ends are soldered, but with them being gold ,they needed a naked flame torch to solder them as gold needs to be extremly hot to solder, plus you are being picky, typical, when some one does something that works ,allways some one to try n put you down, you dont happen to live in lancashire do you, as i would love to meet you,

ooo, touchy !

nobody is putting anybody down, there are numerous threads in the projects section about DIY earthing, we (royal we) have gtone down the route of ordering from vehicle wiring ltd for a grand total of about 14 - £15, so well done, the mod is excellent and I for one think the gain has been noticeable.

nice.

Very nice job, I don`t want to **** on your bonfire, but be a little carefull with those battery blocks and cable combination,
As the cable is so flexible multi strand, after a while it may become loose in the bat clamp,
worked on a golf rallye with a 20 vt conversion a few months back, he had used the same materials, but not solder`d any, you could pull every conection includeing the bat clamp, apart with your hands, solder`d everything and just "tinned" the clamp end to not lose the gold effect,
Have a good one,
Tim

Is Exesspeed still around? He hasn't posted in ages.

Chrome or anyone else - what sort of results did people see after trying this to a MY00 or newer?

I want a kit for my MY00.
