TK -- I had an eerily similar experience with trying to get a widescreen TV delivered. Their idea of 'notice' was the van driver phoning up at 09:05 saying he was on the M1 and would be delivering later in the day! I was on the train to work at the time...

Fortunately our next door neighbours took it in (put it in their garage).

Well at least you have a post service. They've been on strike in London for the past week.

Nope. They're on strike in the CM postal code area too. Supposed to pick up my new car tomorrow, which has no tax disc. Insured it on Monday, but the cover note hasn't turned up.

Another lets screw the public............. The postal system in thos country should never be allowed to be interupted. It will and has caused millions in lost business. I have over 3k worth of cheques owed to me in the post!! and they reccon it will take weeks to clear the backlog....... I like Posties... Sure they could do with extra money... But learn from the firemen.... DO not take the Public on..... We will end up all buying dogs...

I see the regulator has allowed some of Royal Mail's competitors to take on unrestricted deliveries temporarily.

I get the feeling that if the competitors' deliveries go OK the posties may have shot themselves in the foot and speeded up the path to deregulation and redundancies.

i quite like the royal mail (or parcelforce) for delivery of small or medium parcels. i can go to the main post office and collect the parcels if i am not in, unlike some firms like citylink (may not be this exact one) where i have to travel miles to get to their depot.
