Still, as long as it's only "joshing", why would it matter that women all over the world literally starve themselves so they won't be called fat?

Some of you need to consider what you say more carefully. I think you'd find your "joshing" has a lot more in the way of knock-on effects than you realise.

TK - with respect, I don't think that eating disorders are the symptom of a male conspiracy to enslave and objectivise women - women don't need our help, they do it all on their own. who makes up the majority of the audience of anorexic friends? who buys marie clare, cosmo, red, elle, and the other 9 milllion women's magazines that are chock full of skinny models in ridiculous outfits? OTOH, last time i had a look in Men Only, the ladies within were very well proportioned.

of course i accept that historically male dominated society has done a lot of bad things to women, but it seems that they have taken up the cause themselves, to an extent.

ProperCharlie, what sort of message are women supposed to get from a load of blokes looking at VBH and calling her fat? She may not be waif-like, but she's hardly fat.

What is a healthy size and shape varies from person to person, but nobody should feel they have to be a size and shape that they are not designed to be. Our focus should be on healthy, which anorexic certainly isn't.

No TK, women who weight 6 stone are anorexic. I'm refering to your 'average' women.

Most of the women who want to lose weight and try to do so by not eating much would be far better eating a decent diet and doing some proper exercise (30 minutes sat next to your mate on a exercise bike talking while you legs go round 1 a minute does not count!).

Being fat or thin has nothing to do with attractiveness or in this case Miss VBH having massive thighs and a large backside, all IMHO of course. Some skinny women have terrible (to my eyes) proportions, VBH, falls into the category of "mis-shapes" as far as I can see. A moose-plain and simple (like her)

STi wanna Subaru, my point here is that VBH doesn't need to lose weight. She is a perfectly normal, healthy shape and size. It's seeing her called fat that leads to insecurity, eating disorders and the rest.

We're discussing inappropriate attitudes to healthy people, not people who actually do need to lose weight.

And if you can't discuss this without lowering yourself to childish insults, I have nothing further to say to you. It just goes to prove that you can't maintain a discussion at an adult level. Then again, we all knew that.

fitz, regardless of how it's meant, consider how it can be taken. There's no positive way to take being called "fat".

How many time have you seen threads complaining about neurotic gfs who change their clothes 17 times before they can go out, take 4 hours doing their make-up and constantly ask if they look fat? How many times have your mates complained about their gfs doing this?

Do you not think that by calling women like VBH fat, that you rather bring a lot of it on yourselves?

Ok,VBH cannot be classed as a stereotypical beauty because she isn't.

What she is though is attractive for more than the usual reason, looks.

She's not bad to look at though by any means, a little out of proportion for my tastes, breasts too small, bum too big, legs to short(pin toe'd too), but hey, she is attractive because not only is she pleasing to the eye but she can drive a car better than the majority of males and genuinely appears to love cars.

To have her as a mate talking about fast motors and being driven around by her would be the equivalent of popping a dozen Viagra tabs.

That's sexy surely to any car loving male?

It interests me too about the blokes on here who say she is either fat or a moose. What have they settled for?

In my experience, most of the people I've ever encountered talking down about someone in this fashion actually live, or are going out with somebody who wouldn't look out of place on a farm.
